Enya is an irish singer, best known for singing the theme tune for the premier film 'Gladiator'. She has an amazingly soft yet powerful voice that makes me feel sleepy when listening to her.
This is a such a beautiful piece of music. The music in unconsciously consistent the enitre waythrough the song which makes you feel really relaxed and drowsy. The music sort of echo's and I liken it to raindrops. The beat is four beats, the inital beat is slightly louder and the others seems to gently echo it: 'DA; da; da; da' 'DA; da; da; da'
The lyrics are heart warming and I said that this was a song I sing to my mum when she is feeling low following an argument with my step-dad. The song is all about the enternity of love, 'Amarantine' being roughly translated as 'Eternity'. A part from the chorous, every verse is the same consistent rhymthm and beat ,again, to make you feel relaxed. It's a two syllable beat each sentence, the stress on the last syllable. I'm no music technician and I'm pretty sure readers of this review won't be either so I'll try and define it as simply as possible. Each beat goes: 'de DA' 'de DA' 'de DA' 'de DA' 'de daaaaaaaaaa'
Here's an example from the first line and then I'll write the rest of the lyrics so that you can read this beautiful piece of emotional music.
- * - 'You KNOW; when YOU; give YOUR; love AWAYYYYY' 'it OPENS; your HEARTTTT' 'everyTHING; is yoooooo'
If you imagine it like a wave motion, gently rising and falling; this is the motion of the music.
********* Verse one**************
You know when you give your love away it opens your heart, everything is new. And you know time will always find a way to let your heart believe it's true.
******Chorus**********
'Amarantineeeee' 'Amarantineeeee' 'Amarantineeeee; 'love is always loveeeeee'
x 2
***** Verse 2***********
You know love is everything you say; a whisper, a word, promises you give. You feel it in the heartbeat of the day. You know this is the way love is.
*Chorus x 2
************* Verse 3 ***********
You know love may sometimes make you cry, so let the tears go, they will flow away, for you know love will always let you fly — how far a heart can fly away!
*Chrous x 2
************Verse 4************
You know when love's shining in your eyes it may be the stars fallen from above. And you know love is with you when you rise, for night and day belong to love
* Chorus
I think the music is violins and there's some other instruments in there aswell, maybe a harp. Point being, it's both chilling yet hauntingly absorbing.
The music video to this is equally as wonderful. I suggest typing this song into Youtube and watching it. It's basically Enya wondering through the forest; a place of natural beauty with life that regrows and blooms just like love. Enya is beautiful to match the beautiful song.
I am struggling to write anymore on this song. Words cannot describe the emotion it stirs in sensitive individuals such as myself and you cannot appreciate the power behind the words if you are simply reading them on a page. I really recommend listening to it for yourself!
I am also a massive fan of some of her other songs, in particular the more upbeat 'wildchild'.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Sorry I can't rate this higher, but there are two things of note: (a) Amarantine is the second song from the album of the same name - I think you were supposed to review the WHOLE album, not just one song from it; and (b) Enya doesn't sing on the Gladiator OST - its an Australian singer/musician called Lisa Gerrard. Happy to come back and re-rate if you get a chance to edit. 8^)

I remember a big hit she had in the early 90s. Good to see she's still going strong!
