Advantages: Relaxed, yet experimental. Disadvantages: Not the 'perfect-pop' some might expect.
...'Smiley Smile' by The Beach Boys is often rated a self-indulgent sketchbook of ideas. Certainly their heavy use of psychedelics is evident in its over-zealous experimentation and abstract/silly lyrics. However I think it's an extremely worthy piece.
It's much like their masterpiece, 'Pet Sounds', with exquisite vocal-harmonies, reminiscent of barber-shop quartets, fusing with stripped down instrumentation. However it's much rawer, less polished, which I find charming. With lyrics about their favourite vegetables and balding women, there's a sense of innocent mischief. Brian Wilson's genius for rhythms and harmonies are best seen here on 'Good Vibrations' and 'Heroes And Villians', although tracks like 'Wind Chimes' and 'Little Pad' show a previously unheard, but very touching sense of reflection and melancholy.

Advantages: not a single bad track Disadvantages: only 11 tracks
...with only 11 tracks on this album you may be thinking is it really worth it? my answer, yes yes yes! for one thing the album is called rastaman vibration and if you havent herd that track then you need this album as it is such a tune. basically all the tracks on this album are brilliantthere are only 2 tracks less than 3 minutes therefor the album lasts longer than you would expect. i download many albums but with bob marley i like physically owning his albums as the cases and booklets are always beautifully presented. the album contains a 6 page booklet with very nice pictures and one illustration. i added this to my collection very late on for a reason unknown to me as i should have bought it earlier beacuse it is so enjoyable. i would deffinetely get this as it has some amazing tracks that have been produced with a lot of care...

...I love this album. It radiates smugness for English ppl and Anglophiles but, for welsh speakers like myself, it contains some very beautiful. Also, the Mwng Bach (Small Mane) Ep is a very welcome addition. Although, in Calimero, english speakers please be aware you are singing 'Calimero why are you wearing an egg on your head' and the distorion vocals at the end sing 'My name is Joe'. But for the record, this is a brilliant record of the same standards as 'Velvet Underground and Nico' and 'Good Vibrations'. Go buy!!!...
