...I adore Pocahontas. As one of the only Disney films to stick with a less than happy ending that is true to the nature of the story, I fidn no other comes close in comparison. The score is no exception to this. From the second it kicks in on the title screen to the poignant final crescendo, this is a soundtrack that should be on every music lover's shelf whether they are 15 or 55. Menken & Schwarz have proved themselves a thousand times over and this is a true display of their talent. Quick summary of my favourite tracks: Steady as the Beating Drum An amazing intoduction to both the film and Native American culture... ...Madonna has copied this classic song and did a good job with it. It is just as good as the original, if not better. I have heard both several times and have concluded that the Madonna version is well worth buying. It has been revamped and has many advantages over the first one. The sound quality is much better and it has got the original renewed popularity, which it also deserves. The single is a must for any Madonna fan and also for all round music lovers.
