the dark Sam Mendes-directed flick starring Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening. With its mix of classic and indie rock, the disc seems to reflect something for everyone (or at least those found in middle America). Bobby Darin's "Don't Rain On My Parade" is the epitome of unhip, Free's "All Right Now" is a classic rock anthem we've heard way too many times and Peggy Lee's "Bali Ha'i" is vintage exotica at its best. But then there are some surprises: Elliott Smith's harmonising "Because" is pure Brian Wilson, Folk Implosion's "Free To Go" is one of the group's best tracks and Eels' "Cancer For The Cure" is a gritty but infectious taste of alt-rock. Thomas Newman's percussive "Dead Already" creates a tense mood to start things off. --Jason Verlinde
Advantages: Superb songs, variety of music, not a bad track. Disadvantages: Some of the rock music may not be to all tastes, but i struggled for a disadvantage!
...- Feeder
13.: Any Other Girl - Nu
14.: Beloved - Working Title
15.: Calling You - Blue October
16.: Honey And The Moon - Arthur, Joseph
17.: Into The Mystic - Wallflowers
18.: Here She Comes - Androids
There is a real variety with heavier rock bands such as the Foo Fighters, Feeder and All American Rejects contributing to the album.
Then you have some of the lesser known bands on the album and tracks 14 through to and including 18 are some of my favourite songs, yet i probably would never have heard of them if not for this album. Track 15, Calling You by Blue October is a superb song and in my top songs of all time for sure.
If you liked the movies, some of the songs will make you smile thinking of the scenes they accompanied.
But even if you havent seen the movies and enjoy a real variety of excellent music, give this compilation...

Advantages: Fantastic Disadvantages: There are none

The camera then shows some typical scenes of life in the south of America. A steam train, black people working on the farms and playing and singing the blues.
Then, comes the introduction to the programme, proper, by the host, Keith David, with Albert Murray and Robert Palmer.
Keith David points out that everyone gets the blues, and that everyone develops methods of coping with the blues. His favourite method...

Advantages: easy to listen to Disadvantages: a few bland songs sneaked in
...the first volume was great so i got the second one too.it has loads of tracks, with a mix of pop rock and poppy/country style.names include jessica simpson, A1 and a lot fo americanartist who are very good, but not really known in England. This shouldnt put you off however, it is easy to listen to time and time again.it is not as good as the first, but it is still great, even if you are not an avid watcher of the tv show. The songs that are faster are really good too....
