Advantages: CD can be used as a wall decoration or disco ball alternative Disadvantages: horrid - a true torture tune 68 minutes i wont forget!
- i adore saxaphone with a slow and soulful expression which unfortunately this album lacks completely.
This is a type of modern music jazz which trys an alternative approach to funk jazz - it's a type i havent come across before and honestly can say did not enjoy one little bit. True to say it's being a bit ambitiousand attemps to delivery jazz on the front line.
Unfortunaltely it didnt do anything for me and I won't be making the mistake of buying anything from PatMetheny in the future.
There is a variety of instruments used throughout the 68 min duration - of which make a horrid racket in an attempt to experimentally modernise jaz. This is something that shouldn't really be attempted. Jazz is as it is, a soulful and expressional artform that does not require tinkering or 'hipping' up to ''get down with the kids''.

Advantages: A groundbreaking highly original Landmark work! Disadvantages: None
work and one of the PatMethenyGroups very best. When I first heard the album I thought is was terrific and very intriguing. I felt I had to listen to again and again and I am so glad I did. The album is complex, rich, beautiful and melodic. Yet, It is not overly done and complicated. I like straight-ahead and progressive Jazz. The Way Up is a groundbreaking statement in Jazz. This album is in the place between the cracks, where defined genres disappear into a poetic whole and what emerges is something utterly new, guided and inspired by the limitless creativity of the jazz tradition. ...
Advantages: Some good characters and fun storylines, great use of computer graphics Disadvantages: Some bland characters and boring plots, age certificate too generous
Music and movies should seem like a winning combination; both at the heart of the modern day entertainment industry, you only have to look as far back as the 1960's when the Beatles released five films, each centred around their own creations, it shows that sometimes it just works. Well, perhaps not for the Magical Mystery Tour but still...
Yet, where it can be a winning formula for a great film, it can also be a disastrous black pit; if one element isn't quite up to scratch, the rest of it can fall apart at the seams and make for an excessively boring watch.
'Garage Days' narrowly misses this black pit by a millimetre. Whilst it strictly isn't all about the relationship between music and cinematic artistry, its main plot focuses around a post grunge, punkish, wannabe rock group out in Australia, who are desperate to get their big ...

Album Notes
Pat Metheny Group: Pat Metheny (6-& 12-string guitars); Lyle Mays (piano, Oberheim, autoharp, organ); Mark Egan (bass); Dan Gottlieb (drums). Recorded at Longview Farm, North Brookfield, Massachussetts in June 1979. Personnel: Pat Metheny (6-string guitar, 12-string guitar); Lyle Mays (autoharp, piano, organ, Oberheim synthesizer); Mark Egan (electric bass); Dan Gottlieb (drums). With AMERICAN GARAGE, the 1979-model Pat Metheny Group created a soundscape of the American heartland, combining elements of jazz, rock and gospel music. With layers of guitars, rolling keyboard textures, and a rhythm section that could both rock and play with openness and delicacy, they defined a sound that influenced a generation of musicians. Tight ensemble playing, inspired soloing, and the individual members' personal voices made this group a wonderful vehicle for Metheny and Mays' compositions. "(Cross the) Heartland," "The Search," and "The Epic" all feature strong melodic writing, with insightful arrangements and orchestration. Though Metheny's unmistakable guitar, and Mays' lyrical piano and synth playing are featured throughout, these pieces showcase the entire group.
