Camp Champ!

Advantages: Nice variation of electro, house, disco and techno
Disadvantages: Camp overtone

One of the many infamous DJ Kicks albums, this one from the electro king of camp - Tiga. Tiga's, from Canada been around for many years, owns his own electro/house label called Turbo. I have been a fan of his music and mix CD's since I started gaining an interest in electroinc music. Some of his early CD's and productions were more on a techno vibe with his latest stuff on the more electro housey tip. Anyhow, this DJ Kicks installation is an oldy but really good, one of my favourites I have heard in the series. The style of it is mainly electro house with hints of disco and techno thrown into the mix, all tracks seemlessly mixed together in a nice progressive order. There is also quite a camp element in the album as he is prone to getting on the mic and singing a few lyrics. This is apparent in Miss Kitten's classic 'Madame ...

Scarface (Music inspired by the movie) - Various Artists

Advantages: A few scarface film samples
Disadvantages: Nearly the whole thing

Many people have been influenced by the scarface film and the rap genre has especially referenced to it man songs. This is now an official compilation of songs with money, power and respect themes. as you would imagine, all are rap. Put together in 2003, this def jam idea includes songs by Nas, Mobb Deep and Notorious BIG, some made especially for the album some old tracks that just fit. None appear in the film but there are samples and dialouge used from the picture. Tracks Its Mine - Mobb Deep & Nas. Scarface cues used as the sample in this one which was originally put t ogether in 99. A good relevant track to start the album Yeo - Cam'ron. Samples Rush Rush which is used in the film, rush rush get the yayo may be more familiar. best bit about the song is actually the sample with cam'rons raps not adding much but loads ...

DRUM N BASS ESSENTIALS [mixed by dj hype]

three great mix cds in one pack and mixed by the legendary dj hype. this cd is full of every style of drum n bass. this is a great way of hearing all styles in one mix set, from jump up to jazzy, dark and ragga and more soulfull tracks. not many people mix all style when djing drum n bass but hype does it and does it well. best thing of all they decided not to have an mc rapping over the tune and this is a great advantage to this cd and just lets the music do the talking. there are also a few vocal tracks on this cd aswell. there are so many styles/genres of drum n bass aspecially in britain [home of dnb] this cd really does all justice. there has some great exclusives versions of tracks on this as well which makes it even more special. everyone should have a copy of this for sure and even people that dont like drum n bass ...
