This album is written about America politics and how right green day were!! It is a great album with a mixture of hit singles like American Idiot and some good un-hear tracks like Give Me Novacaine. Track listings are-
American idiot- This song signifies that Green Day are back! It is a great song (one of the best on album). Repetitive lyrics, that is a good thing, with good guitar and drums to accompany them. Green Day are definitely not idiots!!!!
Jesus of Suburbia- i. Jesus of Suburbia- nice beginning to a long but somehow good song ii. City of the damned- Best section of this song, very memorable. Great guitar and drum part in this section, then it cuts straight into a quite bit that isn’t as good but seems to fit in with the rest of the song. iii. I don’t care- Very repetitive section and most memorable iv. Dearly Beloved- Great section but doesn’t seem to fit in like the rest of the song does! This bit seems like it should be part of a Christmas
song! v. Tales of another broken home- Most drawn out section but a fantastic end to a good song but very long!! The total time for this song is 9:08! But still good!
Holiday- One of the best songs on the album (Greendays most recent single). Its one of those songs where if you here it once you'll be singing it or humming it for the rest of the day! Very memorable and good song that you'll remember for a long time.
Boulevard of broken dreams- THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM!! You could probably listen to it over and over again and not get fed up with it. Every element of the song is timed perfectly and the end result is a great and 'classic' song. However the only bit of this song I don’t like is the ending, but apart from that it is brilliant.
Are we waiting- Good intro to the song but after that it is a little bit of a let down really. It is to slow and for that reason it doesn’t seem to be in the same league as the rest of the album. Too slow and slightly boring for me.
St. Jimmy- Very very fast tempo to this song, very good punk song and fits in with the rest of the album in every way. Probably better performed live but still a great song with great lyrics.
Give me novacaine- A little slow-paced to start with but down let this put you off, it is a great un-heard song, it is in its own league. I would really recommend listening to this if you have heard Green day before.
She's a rebel- Great song but not as good as you would expect, still worth a listen though. A little too repetitive for me.
Extraordinary girl- Weird start! Sounds like a start to a Wild West movie! Apart from that I would say it is an okay song, the best bit of this song is definitely the guitar. Again this song is drawn out like the some of the other. Weird ending!
Letterbomb- Again a very weird intro but despite that a very good song, good quality and nearly as good as the GOOD songs, if you know what I mean. Fast tempo. It is one of those songs that seems to stick in you head.
Wake me up when September ends- Great song, very different but still a very good song even though it is slightly slow-paced to start with. I would definitely recommend this song. A bit drawn out though.
Homecoming- i. The death of St. jimmy- Rubbish start to an okay song if you ask me. Gets quite boring. It can only improve. ii. East 12th st.- great section but the lyrics are terrible at one point it sounds like a folk song!! iii. Nobody likes you- The return of the cheesy tune from letterbomb. AAAAAHHHHHHH! Lyrics improve from this point onwards iv. Rock and roll girlfriend- Weird bit! v. We're coming home again- The best section to an weird song, you may aswell just listen to this bit! Great section but a little drawn out.
Whatsername- Good intro to a good song, well worth a listen or two. Great guitar, bass and drums. Okay lyrics. Great example of a ROCK song.
(Tracks 2 and 12 are in sections because it is like that on the cover, don’t ask why!) Overall- I would definitely recommend this album to anyone who likes Green Day or punk rock music. However I think it is slightly overpriced, the cheapest shop you can buy this from would probably be either select-a-disc (in London and Nottingham) or Tescos. Definitely hit songs on this album and some other good ones aswell.
