Advantages: good idea Disadvantages: bad acting in parts
AmericanMovie" is a satisfying documentary of a wanna-be filmmaker with probably more ambition than common sense. Mark Borchardt is 30 years old, lives with his parents, supports three children by vacuuming a funeral home, and has accrued something like $10,000 in debt without completing a single film project. His already dubious mental stability is exacerbated by the fact that he drinks too much beer, gets high often and is so focused on his "dream" that he willingly lets "AmericanMovie's" documentary crew turn his life into a voyeuristic freak-show. It's a situation that I think worked more successfully in the independent/unreleased documentary "Driver 23" (essentially the same story, only this time the "visionary" wanted to be a heavy metal star), but the crackpot cast of people who populate "AmericanMovie" (Mark's burnout friends ...
Advantages: Action packed and good gangster movie. Disadvantages: There isnt any
It really is brilliant and the lead roles goes to one of my favourite actors in the world Denzel Washington. I can guarantee that any movie with Denzel Washington in it is amazing, alot of my favourite movies have Denzel Washington acting in leading roles, many people will agree that he is a brilliant actor.
This film is full of bullets flying everywhere and that is what makes a good gangster film, death, guns and drugs. This film is about a big shot gangster (Denzel Washington) who cuts out the middle men in the drug industry in order to make alot more money. Meanwhile the police are tracking his every move and trying to find the source of the drugs.
There are plenty of brilliant brilliant actors alongside Denzel Washington in this movie and it is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I would definately recommend this ...
Advantages: Edward Norton; Dialogue; Tension; Story Disadvantages: Propaganda
"We're so hung up on this notion that we have some obligation to help the struggling black man, you know. Cut him some slack until he can overcome these historical injustices. It's crap. I mean, Christ, Lincoln freed the slaves, like, what? 130 years ago. How long does it take to get your act together?"
--Derek Vinyard
Edward Norton is one of those rare contemporary actors that you know whatever movie he's going to be in it's going to be good. American History X is by no means an exception, with Norton phenomenal in his performance as an ex-neo-Nazi attempting to prevent his brother from pursuing the path he did.
Edward Furlong (Terminator 2) plays the young skinhead Danny Vinyard, criticised by his teacher (Avery Brooks) for turning in a paper on Mein Kampf. The black teacher then instructs Danny to create a report ...
