AMERICAN SOLDIER, Queensrche's 12th studio release, culminates in a full-album concept, ... more
similar to their 1988 rock opera masterpiece, OPERATION: MINDCRIME. The primary difference is that this time around, Queensrche are not weaving a tale. Rather, they...
Advantages: full of action, real life story, very cheap Disadvantages: no extra's on the DVD
I'm a big fan of military films and I was excited when I spotted this online for £3.99 (thank you play.com).
This film tells a real life story of a group of Americansoldiers who were on a "normal" sortie in Iraq back in 2004. This isn't your typical Gulf war film though, you don't see the aircraft or any other air support and there's no bombs or an easy way out when the going gets tough. Nor was it one "the" big movies when it came out but all the same this is a quality film about a real story.
The film follows a group of soldiers on just one of their long days fighting insurgents. The combat/shooting scenes are numerous as you would expect but in this film everything is very realistic. As well as following the Americansoldiers it also shows you their involvement with the Iraq police force and how they come together to fight ...

I had never heard of this film until i purchased the DVD in HMV; and let me tell you now that this film is a true war film that is just as good as saving private ryan, stalingrad or pearl harbour.

A commotion in the prisoners starts and one of them manages to prise a gun from a German soldier and shoot him. The Germans being the cruel fiends they are, open fire on the captured Americansoldiers while they are fleeing towards the trees to ...
Advantages: Good entertainment, likeable cast, moves along at a terrific pace Disadvantages: Not for the faint-hearted, predictable
; where a stiff drink is readily available and I can switch off if the going gets tough.
However breaking with tradition I went along to a horror night at our local theatre with my son, home from University for a bit of revision, to see ‘Dog Soldiers’ advertised as ‘Six Men … Full Moon… No chance’.
'American Werewolf in London’, is one of my favourite horror films. This is of the same genre and confirms that Britain is the new home of the low budget horror movie, very much alive and well in this joint British/Luxembourg(!) slant on the werewolf tale.
The plot is fairly typical and I have to say somewhat predictable. The story starts in ‘Jaws’ fashion with a couple camping in the Scottish Highlands meeting a gruesome and untimely death.
Cross over to North Wales, where our ...
