I've been a fan for a while of the kind of East-coast, "chilled" sort of hip-hop (ie no guns or 'hos' a la Puff Daddy and his mates) by the likes of De La Soul, Jurassic 5 and of course A Tribe Called Quest. This album by former Tribe frontman Q-Tip does not disappoint. Its mellow, cool, the old-school melodies are infectious and the rapping intelligent. It sits alongside earlier Tribe albums in many of these respects but somehow seems a little more up-to-date. There are a couple of cool guests on the album (Busta Rhymes, Korn - what an odd collaboration, but it works!) All in all a brilliant, sexy album - I taped it for my car and I haven't stopped playing it for weeks.
