Advantages: Classic Sonic Youth- Quirky and Noisy Disadvantages: Some say Goo too Commercial
...SonicYouth's Goo, released in 1990, was an inspired echo to their success in the 1980's. The familiar mess of guitars and drums -often orchestral in sound- is still present, a surprisingly rich sound created from what seems randomly put together. The vocals echo through your head some hours later and the rythyms will make you tap along in your sleep.
As a serious SonicYouth fan, this is a satifactory album, it gives those familiar with the band exactly what they expect, but is also a great album to introduce yourself to their 'special noise'. From a fan perspective, a few of the tracks have a slightly weaker hold, but are more than made up for with those tracks that blast your socks off.
As with all SonicYouth masterpieces, the album was a journey with every right to be up there with the rest. An investment for the first time buyer...

A Teenage riot Review ofDaydream Nation - SonicYouthby
Bluuprint
Advantages: pure musical magic Disadvantages: a little more self editing is needed
...With an opening track called Teenage riot how can one fault SonicYouth. The albumn that inspired a thousand kids to form a band. Its easy to see why, 12 tracks of sprawling guitar wilderness. With vocal duties split between the three guitarists this albumn provides a brilliant mix of art noise, punk energy and sheer rock and roll passion. Is this the perfect rock and roll albumn? Well there are weak points primarily the fact that the songs could be much shorter and still convey the same message and power. Those who claim that you can't have too much of a good thing will not mind this minor fault. Despite the fact that this or any other sonicyouth albumn has never made any impact on the mainstream charts, this is an albumn that everyone should have - it would make the world a better place....

Advantages: Thurston Moore takes the creative lead on this one Disadvantages: Not enough people are listening to this
...As I consider the kind of people that might read this review I find it is difficult for me to assess the kind of superlatives necessary.
Here's why

So here is my review written for those who don't already know SonicYouth
The band set out in 1980 recording punk and contemporary art influenced lo-fi noisy music (If you're not sure that was a compliment) SonicYouth have become known for experimenting with eccentric guitar tunings and using homemade equipment to distort sounds, and create white noise crescendo's, particularly guitarist Thurston Moore.
They are widely acknowledged as influential precursors to Grunge and practically any left...
