This is the first release from Anastasia since her breast cancer treatment. I wasn't that great a fan of some of her earlier stuff, but having read so many interviews about her illnesses and her outlook, I was inspired to listen to her stuff.
When I first heard track 2 - 'Left outside alone' I was mesmerised. Her vocals are amazing, and this track really stood out for me. I bought the album, hoping for more of the same.
The first track on the album is amazing. 'Season's change' is a fast, rocky track. It is a great intro to this album, and her vocals are amazing on this style of song. It has a powerful chorus, and great riffs.
‘Left outside alone’ as mentioned above is the first single taken from the album. It’s slower than track 1, but has a funky tune, and her vocals are superb, the range and tone really add atmosphere to this track. The bridge contracts to the rockier chorus and the overall effect is a track with a lot of power and atmosphere.
‘Time’ is a ballady track with a rocky chorus, full of drums and guitars. It carries on the rocky them of the album.
‘Sick and tired’ slows down the pace slightly. It’s more of a ballady track and doesn't make the most of Anastacia's stunning vocal ability.
'Heavy on my heart' follows, another ballad, even slower than the last one. It has a real soulful arrangement, but just doesn't suit Anastacia's voice...
'I do' is my favourite track. It sounds like the lovechild of Linkin Park and Meatloaf, but it's catchy, rocky, and with a profound message as well...
'Who wants a world without anger and rage? I do Who wants a world where a kid could be save? I do Who wants to pray for the end of the pain? For the calm at the end of the day Where there's not always more of the same I do'
'Welcome to my truth' follows, and again slows down the pace. This has very poignancy lyrics, and I can't help but feeling it's autobiographical
'Somebody bring up the lights I want you to see (Don't you feel sorry for me) My life turned around But I'm still living my dreams (Yes it's true that I've been) And through it all I hit about a million walls'
'Pretty little dum dum' and 'sexy single' are quite drab, unappealing racks in my opinion. Both are poppy tracks, with strong messages in them, but don't add anything to the overall album. Quite unforgettable in my opinion.
'Rearview' is next, a poppy track with a powerful chorus. This is another of my favourites on the album. It has an almost Roxette feel to it.
'Where do I belong' follows, a haunting ballad with powerful arrangements. This is one of the more poignant and atmospheric tracks for me, and shows off that amazing voice's potential...
'Lightning strikes the pages keep on turning Help me to be strong I'm floating in a see of strange believers Tell me where do I belong?'
The final track is 'Maybe today, a piano ballad, with the most soulful pronunciation of a swear word I've ever heard!
Overall, there are some fillers on this album, but her voice is amazing and most tracks show how powerful her voice is. It's well worth a listen, I'm not an Anastacia fan, but still enjoyed most tracks on this album

i bought this album on the basis of "left outside alone" and wish that I hadnt wasted my money. This is not as good as her others.

I've got both of her previous albums and adore them but there was something that just didn't let me take to this album, not quite sure if it's that her voice seems to have become slightly harsher or what but didn't enjoy it that much! Sarah x
