Advantages: The definitive voice of soul Disadvantages: cant see any!
...for me otis blue comfortabaly sits within the top ten albums of all time. most of the tracks on the cd are cover tunes, but with otis reddings trademark style and supreme talent they all sound like they could have been one of his! there are songs by a range of artists from sam Cooke numbers to the rolling stones! The three originals show Otis in top songwriting form with "Respect" "Ole Man Trouble," and the exceptional ballad "I've Been Loving You Too Long." The Big O is of course backed up by the always impressive Stax house band Booker T. & The MG's, augmented by horn players from the Mar-Keys and Isaac Hayes on keyboards (who often played with the group whenever Booker T. was away at school). Without question, this is an essential Otis Redding CD, a classic Stax release, and a milestone of the soul genre in the 1960's. "...

Some of the most more odd tracks on here come from "Neither Fish Nor Flesh" but there will be some you do know.
"If You Let Me Stay" is a great pop track. I can remember TTD performing that on The Roxy on ITV and thinking it was one of the most amazing things I'd ever seen.
The tone poem "Wishing Well" was another big hit with a great riff. "Dance Little Sister" is a rock track. I love the inspiring lyrics and the saxophone.
"Do You Love Me LIke You Say You Do?" was hit in 1993 and while it didn't set the charts alight exactly, it saw a return to form after the failure of the second album.
"Delicate" was a fantastic top 10 hit in 1993. Terence's voice matches perfectly...

Advantages: Good mix of songs, film clips before each song... Disadvantages: Some of the songs stick in your head
...is Tight - Booker T & The MG's
-Magic Moments - Perry Como
- Tammy - Debbie Reynolds
- Expecting to Fly - Buffalo Springfield
- Viva Las Vegas - The Dead Kennedys
As well as these 13 songs there is a 3 part 'drug-score' performed by Tomoyasu Hotei and Ray Cooper.
The album artwork, cover and inlay are great, they incorporate the film tremendously and I was pretty impressed with it, also includes some Steadman artwork (the splattered trademarked artwork from the books!)
Unfortunately the lyrics aren't inside but the soundtrack is brilliant anyway and most of the songs are well known.
The dialogue before each song is good to help visualise the film and also to add that 'Fear and Loathing' effect to it and they are hilarious without having to even see the film!!!
Its a great album but I do find some of the tracks and bit annoying - There...
