...This Album is a real artefact. It just couldn't be made these days, it's just too bizarre to comprehend. But then again this is the 60's, and anything goes. We have two absolute genuises in the form of songwriter/composer Jimmy Webb (song writer of 'Up, Up, and Away', 'By The time I get To Phoenix', 'Galveston', 'MacArthur Park') and actor/singer Richard Harris ('This Sporting Life', 'A Man Called Horse', 'The Field'). So Jimmy Webb? I have already reviewed his compilation of hits and cannot rate him highly enough. He does hit bum notes, but when he gets it right, he's right on the money (Galveston, MacArthur Park, By The TIme I get To Phoenix) he is, without reservation, an enigma. I was very, very lucky to see him in an intimate setting last year and was blown away with the performance. This is a man that modern musicians can learn... Read review

Advantages: Great introduction to a songwriting genius
Disadvantages: Will not be to everybody's taste

...Jimmy Webb was, and to some degree still is an enigma. In the 60's when he was just starting to perfect his craft he created some of the most brilliantly constructed tunes around. The tradegy is that he is also one of the most overlooked songwriters of his generation. Jimmy wrote his first song ('Up, Up & Away') whilst still in college. Over the course of the next ten years he would be rubbing shoulders with the likes of The Beatles, Richard Harris and a whole host of other 60's icons. There is one story he tells about possibly his most famous composition, MacArthur Park, that gives some indication of just how important he was back in the day. The song, sung in unique style by the aforementioned Richard Harris (they went on to record two albums of music together), was a huge beast of a thing, full of unusual segments of different... Advantages: Amazing voice, amazing value
Disadvantages: Blue split up...

...This album is an amazing example of how talented the world can be. Simon Webbe, a former member of the boy band 'Blue', who have all gone their seperate ways, has stayed on to complete his career as a successful singer and it certainly has worked for him. A few songs to definately listen to on the album are Angel, Coming around again, Seventeen, Sunshine, Aint true to yourself, and the beautiful My Soul pleads for you. 'Grace' will will leave you amazed as you hear such a beautiful melodic song, that will charm the pants off you and make you proud to your bones of your heritage, which Simon talks about so much in his music. A definate for all Blue and Simon Webbe fans.... Read review
