...Dionne Warwick sings the Bacharach and David songbook. I came across this CD in the sale recently and bought it because a lot of Dionne’s songs have been featuring in films recently and it’s expensive to keep on buying film soundtracks (and often disappointing to find so many filer tracks). Anyway to my surprise the CD was only £2.99 and has whole 22 tracks – wow. Let me give you the full list because I couldn’t believe that Virgin (MCCD 169) were selling this fine CD so cheaply:

Advantages: One of their best albums. Disadvantages: None.
...I always thought this was one of The Stranglers best albums, with songs like Sweden, Nice n Sleazy, Threatened, Toiler on the sea and Hey its easy to see why. The album itself got to number 2 in the UK album charts, which is good by anyones standards. The album also has some of the best bass of JJs career, just listen to Do You Wanna, Outside Tokyo and Threatened.
This one was more musically adventurous and grounbreaking recieving rather favourable reviews from critics alike. Wobetied anyone who wrote a bad review of The Stranglers!
One person was stupid enough to do so and the tied him to the Eiffel Tower! Once a woman wrote a bad review about them and they tied her up and dangled her down into the middle of an audience at a gig, she wasnt wearing any underwear and one bloke noticed, he got his err, thingy out and started screwin her...

Advantages: Very easy listening, timeless, fashionable (apparently) Disadvantages: Potential embarrasment in cd collection, Cilla Black singing (shudder).
...and 19. You'll feel much better for it. After all, she's only a small blight on an otherwise worthwile purchase.
Have I tempted you yet with the way of the Easy Listening? Apparently it's undergoing a revival in the form of lounge music, but I'm not a great follower of fashion, so I'm afraid I wouldn't know. I know a lot about cocktails though (my only talent - I can mix drinks better than Tom Cruise in that dodgy 80's film).... I can only urge you to give Burt and Hal a go. What have you got to lose? You might love it and if you don't, at least you'll have another cd to keep The Reynolds Girls company.....
*And no, I never went to San Jose. I asked the opinion of a few folk who'd been before and they told me not to bother because there's nowt there! Okay, so Ms. Warwick may "have lots of friends in San Jose", but by the sounds...
