Nightwish are a Finnish metal band. Their debut album, "Angels Fall First" was first released in 1996, but the digipak was released in 2002, along with all previous albums to Century Child.
As far as debut albums go, this is pretty good, I think. It feels like the opening act to something great - you get a teaser of what they can do, but their talent and ability is still very raw and untapped.
There are a few songs on "Angels..." that are still firm favourites with the band's fans - such as "Beauty and the Beast", which is performed on the album by [former] singer Tarja Turunen and Tuomas (keyboards). I have heard this performed live, with Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica doing the male voal...

Advantages: Creates an atmosphere felt with very few albums Disadvantages: You have to be in the right mood to listen to it
...Already being the proud owner of five different cradle of filth albums, when my dad decided he disliked "Damnation and a day" i offered him a few quid for it. What i received was my favourite Cradle album.
The album creates a huge atmosphere and in depth world. This is mainly done because it features the 40-piece Budapest Film Orchestra and 32-piece Budapest Film Choir.
The concept
The album is in four parts. The first two parts tell of the fall of lucifer and the third and fourth parts are about satan's manipulation on Earth. So overall the album is based on the old testament.
The lyrics
The lyrics are some of my favourites. "Angels in raiments, As pure as coal, Taking their payments, In tortured mortal souls" The lyrics arn't for the faint hearted and arn't too popular with Christians but they are intelligent. You cannot...
