Review of Fallen - Evanescence by Angelus

Advantages: The most haunting voice in music today
Disadvantages: Too damned popular now!

...the actual music, unlike other Rock Bands (Limp Bizkit we're looking at you), and it doesn't last that long anyway as towards the end of the track you'll find the pace start to quicken - and it works, it works well even! 2. Bring Me To Life: the Daddy of Evanescence songs, as simple as that - this is the type of song that is definitely a highlight to the album, Amy's voice is at top spot here and in the same track we also have a sort of alternation between vocalists on the chorus, which is sadly lacking from the rest of the album. Now as some of you know I'm a sucker for singing along to a song on my travels so long as its really good - and on my recent trip back to Grimsby it was this song that got the Angelus treatment - its a catchy tune that makes the hairs on your back stand on end, and leaves you begging for more. 3. Etude de Romantique et Gothique
Review of Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992 Version) - Original Soundtrack by berlioz

Advantages: Great gothic score that is romantically very alluring
Disadvantages: Annie Lennox song at the end is totally unnecessary

.... There is also a more religiously coloured theme appearing in the cues "Love Eternal" and "Ascension" for the final scenes of the film of Dracula's redemption that is almost straight out of his concert work Angelus. And finally, as a small curiosity, is the horrifying bit of sound design in "The Ring of Fire" of devilish laughter and crackling of fire as the Brides proceed in killing the horses of Van Helsing near Dracula's castle that can easily give you nightmares when in the proper mood. All in all, the score is perfect for its film and works perfectly in conjunction of the visuals, but also makes for a great album in its suite like tracks that don't necessarily need the film as accompaniment. The album is unfortunately concluded with the obnoxious Annie Lennox song "Love Song for a Vampire" that could just as easily be forgotten. The album sells... Read review

Great
Review of Chaos AD - Sepultura by Rooster

Advantages: Very Orignal
Disadvantages: If you don't like drums you won't like this

...This is another good album from a band that are now way past their best. When Sepultura made Chaos A.D. Max Calalera was still the front man for the band. He is with Soulfly now and his departure a couple of years ago signalled a down turn for the rest of the band. There are some thumpling good tracks on this album such as Refuse/Resist, Territory and Biotech Is Godzilla are just a few of them. Sepultura are from Brazil and are greatly influenced by drums and this is very evident in numerous tracks. The inlay card is excellent its thick with lots of infomation about the band. Chaos A.D. has now been reissued and includes 4 bonus tracks these are live or "tribal jams" (yet more drums) of existing tracks on the album. At times there is nothing but drums on the album but they do seem to be very orignal and this originality is what... Read review
