landmark hit record that set the pace for acoustic African troubadours and set the tone for the successes of Waldemar Bastos and Henri Dikongue 25 years later. His follow up, Angola 74, was recorded on the run in Europe just as Angola's colonial government was being overthrown, and adds a more upbeat flavor to his trademark introspective style. Still using acoustic and traditional instrumentation, he is abetted by Guinean sax man Jo Maka and some of Cape Verde's finest musicians. Included is a version of "Sodade" (made famous by Cesaria Evora), a perfect vehicle for Bonga's raspy voice, replete with a thousand years of African soul in spiritual counterpoint to the "morna"-full arrangement. Elsewhere the inclusion of additional percussion, sax, and flutes provide a celebratory, if somewhat edgy, carnival feel that spins the compass between Africa, Brazil, and Portugal. Bonga later moved into a more cabaret mode of expression, so these are watershed recordings for Angolan music. --Derek Rath
Advantages: great songs Disadvantages: ...........
...A 74 minute cocaine album is what the press called it. I call it a 74 minute masterpeice.
I'm probably the only one who prefers this slightly over the other amazing album WTSMG. But i don't care.
From the spinning blades on the helicopter of D'You Know What I meen to the slamming of the door on the reprise of All Around the world this album leads you through beutiful ballads (Don't Go Away), Full Piece Orchestras (All Around The World), Rock 'n' Roll (Fade in Out/My Big Mouth), Jazzy Pianos (The Girl In the dirty Shirt) and amazingly good anthems (Stand By Me/It's Getting Better Man).
If this albums a flop I'd love to see Oasis do a succesful album.
IT'S GETTING BETTER MAN!...

Best Chili's Album Review ofBlood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppersby

Advantages: Their best album to date Disadvantages: None
...The 5th album to be released by the Chili's in 1991, in my opinion it is the best. With such great tracks as, 'Breaking the girl', 'Suck my kiss', and the hit single 'Under the bridge', this is an album which everyone should recognise at least one song from. With 17 tracks, covering a total of almost 74 minutes, you definately get your money's worth out of this CD. In my opinion this album perfectly captures the tangy style of the Chili's, and contains a great selection of some of their best songs.
Their best album to date....
