Angry Young Computer - Dave Ellesmere

Advantages: The music, the lyrics, the make-up, the costumes
Disadvantages: None whatsoever.

...I first saw The Mikado in the civic centre at Ellesmere Port performed by an amateur group, The Ellesmere Port Light Opera Group. Needless to say my expectations weren’t great. How wrong could I be? The performance was magical. The costumes were bright and original. The singing was fantastic. Never again will I think less of an amateur performance. As with most of Gilbert & Sullivan’s operettas, The Mikado is a satire on Britain’s Institutions and customs including the Victorian Utilitarian philosophy (Let the punishment fir the crime) and girl’s education. Advantages: Cutting edge lyrics
Disadvantages: Only half a dozen tracks that will stand the test of time

...The 'Marshall Mathers LP' (Eminems real name) picks up where his last album left off. Eminem continues his verbal assault on the music industry, his partner, his family in fact any and anything that comes to mind. It is not so much his angry tirades that make this essential listening but rather the refreshingly honest nature of his lyrics. The lyrics are not just one long tirade though, and they do show that Eminem seems to have a good understanding of who he is and where hes at, even if he is in danger of becoming a cliche of himself. The track 'Stan' is the sort of song that will live with you for a long time and reveals another side to Eminems character. As he says on the album, Eminem says what most people only joke about and hes fast becoming the voice of angry young men everywhere.... Read review

Advantages: A reasonably good return to form

...Finally after many years of anticipation, legal wrangling, falling out with former band members (not that they were on the best of terms with some of them in the first place and learning about file management on windows Hawkwind return with a brand spanking new studio album. The expectations of this one are high, especially since they have been performing snippets from it in their live set for the past couple of years, and dam fine snippets they have been. This is their first studio release since 1997 disappointing Distant Horizons and features guest appearances by the legendary Arthur Brown, Lene Lovich, and rather worryingly Mathew Wright.
