proxam - The Beer Fischer

Advantages: A good thirst quencher
Disadvantages: Not very complex

mugs or straight noninck tumblers - pint or half pint - that's about it. One of the few glasses I have in my pathetic collection is a gold rimmed, tulip shaped, flute glass which bears the Fischer logo. This was a 'gift' from a cafe in Strasbourg where I first sampled this brew. "Mrs.P," I said, "I like this glass. I would like to have one just like it for my very own." "That's incredibly interesting," she replied, with what I thought was the meerest hint of sarcasm, "you should buy one." - "Steady on. I don't like it that much." "You're a mean master." She said. At least that's what it sounded like. She says that I'm so tight-fisted that if I dropped a Ł1 coin, it would hit me on the back of the head. Anyway, I've got the glass. So, when I saw a bottle of Fischers in my local supermarket, I said to Mrs.P.....you know how ...

Review of Fischer Lager

The Fischer Price Is Right At Tesco

Advantages: Good tasty drinking beer
Disadvantages: May take a little finding

I have previously decanted on Kronenbourg lager on these pages and have recently drooled enviously over Proxam?s unattainable French brew, La Wambrechies, (http://www.ciao.co.uk/LaWambrechiesReview5326679). In seeking solace I found a few intriguing but rather anonymous bottles of a beer from the Alsace region of France lurking on the shelves of a local supermarket. I bought one, tried it, quite liked it and went back for another to prepare this review. THE BREWERY Strasbourg is midway between Paris and Prague and has the reputation of being the crossroads of Europe. With Germany just across the bridge and around the next bend, this geographical nexus also probably accounts for the wide range of influences in its brewing. ?Situated in the city of Strasbourg, in the Alsace region of France, the Fischer brewery has been ...

Review of Fischer Lager

A good dose of reality, from the standpoint of Annie!

Advantages: Never feels contrived or false.
Disadvantages: Had to end.

As part of the book club that me and my friends run at work, I came across this little gem of a read. The book I will now review is ? Liverpool Annie by Maureen Lee?. The book starts in a war ravaged Liverpool, and centres around a young girl called Annie. The entire book revolves around her from her youth as the eldest of two. Brought up by her Auntie Dot due to her mother suffering from what the doctors can only describe as shell shock, she suffers from a lack of affection from her parents. Then after a terrible incident involving her parents her life propels her to become self sufficient, getting herself a flat and the social life that she have had in her youth, instead of being effectively a carer for her than ailing parents. She finally finds love and feels that she has grown up, but then tragedy strikes again, will ...
