A 25th Anniversary Celebration with "more than meets the eye" !!!

Advantages: An impressively accurate and very well made re-issue of a classic retro toy.
Disadvantages: The "dilemma" ... should I open and play or keep sealed and display ???

Packaged in a retro style box which has a small window revealing Optimus Prime in "vehicle mode" it is actually quite easy to initially dismiss this toy as nothing special but like the Transformers themselves there's "more than meets the eye" !!! This is because the box itself holds a treasure trove of 25th Anniversary merchandise and memorabilia including; * A die-cast replica of the original 1984 Optimus Prime. * A DVD containing the original animated Transformers mini series. * A replica copy of the very first Marvel Transformers comic. * An Autobot Insignia Electronic Voice Box (with speaks classic phrases). OPTIMUS PRIME "TRANSFORMED" Whilst the extras contained within the box are great items for fans and collectors it is Optimus Prime himself that is the most impressive. Review of Hasbro Transformers Optimus Prime 25th Anniversary Edition

The Young Ones Series 1 &2 - 25th Anniversary Ed

Advantages: all the episodes!
Disadvantages: nothing original extra :(

This is a double series set of DVDs to celebrate 25 years since the creation of the young ones on BBC. The Young ones was a sitcom broadcast on BBC two in the 1980's, written by Rik Mayall and Ade Edmunson it is about 4 students who attend 'Scumbag College' North London. Although set in north london it was actually filmed, well most of it actually in Bristol. The four students are called Rik Prick, Neil, Mike, and Vyvyan. Each can be seen to portray teenagers of different decades. Neil as the 1960's Hippy who studies peace studies, Mike as the 1950's 'happy days - like' Fonze (aka lady killer), Vyvyan as the 1970's Punk rocker (ironically studying to be a Doctor!), and Rik the anarchist studying Socailism. Review of The Young Ones - Series 1 & 2 (25th Anniversary Edition) (DVD)

A New Day Yesterday

Advantages: One of the great rock-folk albums and a timeless classic
Disadvantages: Only one or two weak moments

Stand Up was Jethro Tull's second album first released in 1969 and reached #1 in the British charts. I remember the tatty gatefold LP album bought by a friend of mine in a second-hand record shop in the early 1990s. The album cover artwork, designed by artist James Grashow, was in the style of a carved woodcut and the album opened up like a child's pop-up book, so that a cartoon cut-out of the band stood up - a kind of play on the album's title and something completely lost on the later CD releases. After having started out as a blues-rock outfit similar to contemporary bands such as Cream, the New Faces and Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull blended their masterful technique of Blues and Rock fusion with elements of classical, folk, jazz and Indian music.
