Advantages: A great album Disadvantages: The odd track can 'sound the same'
Say hello to The Gaslight Anthem. Dare I suggest the majority of you haven?t heard of them?? Well, some might know them simply as the band that got Bruce Springsteen to join them on stage during their performance at Glastonbury this year. Well, this is their album ?The ?59 Sound?.
Released in 2008 on SideOneDummy Records, it?s a twelve-track album which instantly personifies the ?Americana? type of band. Big choruses, full of melodies and short instrumental interludes and breakdowns ? usually surrounding a glitzy guitar solo.
The opening track, ?Great Expectations?, is just that. Big glorious choruses and verses that contain muted guitar riffs and snare-infected drum loops. One of my holiday reading choices was "Anthem of a Reluctant Prophet", the first novel written by Canadian writer, Joanne Proulx.
The Story

The story is of seventeen year old Luke Hunter who lives in a small (and seemingly depressing!) town called Stokum. Luke spends most of his time either on his skateboard or more often, smoking pot with an assortment of misfit friends in his friend "Fang" Delaney's basement.
Things change one night when, in a pot-fuelled high, he predicts the death of one of his friends, Stan, the very next morning with eerie accuracy. Advantages: Brilliant dance music Disadvantages: Few bad boring songs
Anthems brings you the best dance music for over a decade, its an impossible cd to dislike. Their are loads of Artists with over 65 tracks of quality sound. Anyone who enjoys dance or purely beat music I advise you to buy this with no hesitation, I guarantee you will enjoy the songs to a high standard. You can pick the album up for around ten pound, which for a three cder, is good. I haven't yet come across a dance album better than this and with ministry of sound's reputation I probally wont. Some of the artists it consists of are: Daft Punk, Darude, Fatboyslim, Faithless and so many more. your mind will soon become addicted to the rhythms of Anthems and will forget about the other genres for a while.
