Anthology - Kenny Rogers & The First Edition

Advantages: Some catchy tunes thats easy on the ears!
Disadvantages: It's been done before... and better!

...I can't believe it has been ten years, and admittedly since leaving boyzone he has come a long way. He has found his preffered musical styling in covers of country ballads, like when you say nothing at all (not sure who sang the original but was covered by Union Station) the long goodbye (Brooks and Dunn) if tomorrow never comes (Garth Brooks) we've got tonight (Kenny Rogers) she believes in me (also our Kenny) and now the beautiful I hope you dance (leanne womack). At least he's covering some decent stuff and not ruining it for us. I would like to see Mr Keating doing some of his own stuff as he's not all that bad at writing songs and could possibly help himself teaming up with some other noteworthy artists as he did recently with the beautiful Leann Rimes.... ...experience. The video is a selection of newsreel footage, well chosen to highlight the lyrics with lots of feel good moments and some famous faces from the past. Track 11 - This track is very well-known to most people having been number one both in 1975 for what seemed like forever and also in 1991 presumably because of the headbanging segment in the US duffer movie "Wayne's World". It nearly never even made it as a single, heavily plugging by Kenny Everett persuaded the record company that such a long track (just about six minutes) could make it as a single. The word seminal is much overused, this video was the first even before videos ! Enough said. Advantages: Great amount of songs, Great price
Disadvantages: Flimsy way of getting the second disc out, Second disc not as good as first.

...The Ramones were, along with the Sex Pistols one of the best punk bands ever, and the Anthology does them proud, over 60 songs are spread out over 2 discs, and include some of their best hits, such as "Rock n Roll High School." and "Commando". It doesnt feel like to much either, even if the first disc will be played more than the second. It's also great value, I got the version without the hardback book andfound it in the 2 for £10 section. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a definative collection of the Ramones without having to buy 6 or 7 albums. A must have. Bad points? Only 1, the sencond disc is quite hard to get out and the plastic could break, but the music side of things is great and anyone with the smallest interest in punk music should get this....
