Manowar: The self proclaimed kings of metal. Do they have a right to give themselves this title? Yes they do. Manowar have a huge fan base and a plethora of successful albums behind them. I have been a fan of Manowar since they started, and when I go to rock venues wearing my Manowar t-shirts, many people chirp up things like "Dude manowar rocks" Whilst being labelled an Heavy Metal band, they are actually power metal.
Manowar Anthology is actually a best of album and comprises tracks from some of Manowars earlier albums. The album cover leaves no illusion to what is at the heart of Manowars music. Predominantly Manowar sing about battle, the power of steel, vikings, warriors etc. Although some of there other tracks such as Kingdom come is more profund, and is aimed at people overcoming adversity and conquering their own personal kingdoms, be it career wise or whatever. One of the greatest joys of Manowar is Eric Adams the lead singer. This man has a five octave voice and fits perfectly to the fantasy genre that he sings about. This man can really hold a note, and scream in tune. He is extremely clear you can understand all the lyrics, and the power of his voice blows your mind. To describe most of Manowars music, it would fit in very well in films like Troy, Pathfinder, 300, Conan, Lord of the Rings, anything to do with ancient warriors. It is amazing how they take heavy metal music yet make it fit so well with the theme, the sign of a talented band. You only need to listen to the music without the lyrics and you still know what the music is relating to. As I mentioned before about the track Kingdom Come, Manowar does address some modern issues, but still do it in theme. Master of the Wind, is about people achieving there dreams and the pot of gold on the other side of this success. However, the wind is symbolic of hardships one can encounter whilst striving to fulfill these dreams, "Who will break, who will bend, all to be the master of the wind"

Tip: If you give Manowar a try and like, Majesty are a band that fashion themselves on their heroes, Manowar! and girls do not be put off. Most women I ave played Manowar too, really liked them.
Advantages: Some great heavy metal, a wide range of styles, value for money Disadvantages: Rushed and unnecessary, only draws from 3 albums, some very dodgy tracks
been paid to make it a coherent listen. Out of my whole album collection ? which isn?t actually that large, and is somehow kept at a stable size through my constant buying and selling ? this is the only album on which I will definitely skip tracks. Not according to my mood or desires, but there are some tracks I simply have no interest in hearing. I?ll probably keep this album for the sole reason that it contains some enjoyable stand-alone tracks, the original albums of which are fairly short and not really worth owning (although I did own them all at one point), but I feel let down by Atlantic marketing this as the ?best? songs of a band with a large and omitted back catalogue.
A similar collection entitled ?ManowarAnthology? covers their entire career up to this point, although there are less tracks and it does feature what must ...
