Anthology - Maze (R&B)

Advantages: Excellent archive material
Disadvantages: More Speech Than Other anthology albums

...Kitten Alone’ was typical of the R’n’B records of the time. There are a couple of takes of ‘ Eight Days A Week’ which demonstrate how the band worked on the vocal arrangements and the feel they were trying to get in the backing. The album ends with ‘Kansas City’ a rollicking Little Richard number which Paul plays on the piano. Paul McCartney always comes across well on a track like this where he can throw in his raunchy vocal style and gift for performance. Anthology 1 is an essential album for Beatles enthusiasts certainly. It does however have a resonance and value to those who would wish to hear how a band can develop over time, how achievement rewards those who work hardest , how the initially raw talent of these four young men became the greatest band the world has ever seen. ...There's a great little noticeboard at Dollywood in Seiver County, Tennessee that refers to the resident magician's career "B.D." i.e. before Dollywood. I cannot imagine life before I knew Dolly Parton's records but, if I could, I should imagine it would be summed up in the words of love lorn heroine of "Two Doors Down". "Two doors down They're laughing and drinkin', and having a party Two doors down They're not aware that I'm around" If you're still before Dolly - and can accept that a compilation won't give you an idea of her current recording directions or even reference significant portions of her output - this is a lively introduction. Songs like 'The Seeker' and 'Potential New Boyfriend' are very dated but were incredibly popular in their time. Others, 'Joshua', 'Jolene' and '9 to 5' will sound instantly familiar... Read review

...I Love R&B, i do not own this CD but i would love too! With 2 discs of cool, calm and laid back tunes to listen to with over 100 minutes and a great collection of some of the worlds greastest R&B love songs. I would grab it while you can, and for the price well this is just amazing, I would cerntally recommend this to any fan of R&B as it contains some great artist such as Snoop Dog Usher 411 R.Kelly Jay.Z Sean Paul Dr. Dre Eamon Jennifer Lopez Shabba Ranks & Chevelle Franklyn Bobby Brown Out Cast Beyonce Justin Timberlake and many more top quality R&B artists, i would highly recomend this collection of R&B love song collection fan as this collection is totally brilliant in both music and value wise...
