Returnto the Frontline ~
I brought this DVD after watching the first series from Ross Kemp last year.
I have always shared an interest in these war documentaries and this series interested me not just because of the actor Ross but also of the reality of the Afghanistan War we are currently fighting. This series is a five part documentary which was aired on Sky One and shows Ross Kemp staying and following the action of modern warfare by British Soldiers. In the two series he and a small film crew take part in operations and follow the soldiers into the frontline with the Taliban. The series is very addictive and when I had received the series on DVD from Play.com I watched the whole thing in two nights. I think it is a great way of showing civilians what our soldier go through in the most dangerous war at current time. It ...
Advantages: Childhood memories, fantastic film, there's a moosehead! Disadvantages: Very scary for 4 year olds!
These days I don't normally write reviews on products which already have good reviews written on them. However, having watched this film last night I suddenly have the urge to write, as this film brings back memories for me.
Returnto 1985
It's 1985 and my friend C and myself are just 4 years old. We're at Brentwood cinema with his mum E. The cinema seems HUGE - in fact it was pretty small (you probably won't be interested to know that Brentwood cinema was closed permanently in the year 2000 due to asbestos). I'm sat on the left, with C on my right, and E on his right. The wheelie men are on the huge screen - they are VERY scary. C has tears streaming down his face, he's close to hysterical. I turn to face him, because he's crying and because I'm also scared I'm crying too. His poor mum doesn't know what to do ...
Advantages: Easy to use, fun, addictive Disadvantages: graphics, getting to grips with the controller
are easy to use although little tip: always use the wrist strap - I got over excited on one particular game, the controller flew out of my hand and out of the window. I like the almost retro ethos of the console - the games are not complicated, the Miis are simple and fun. It's a welcome returnto the ease of the earlier consoles.
I sampled the original game, the tennis, golf, bowling etc. The tennis was my personal favourite, thrashing my little brother, pretending to be a much smaller, much less fit Venus Williams. The golf was also fun, although a few of my co-Wii friends did have trouble working out how to pretend the 10inch stick in your hand was meant to resemble a golf club. However, I did have a few qualms with this particular series of games. The bowling and baseball I simply couldn't get my head around - the controller never ...
