Advantages: Great amount of songs, Great price Disadvantages: Flimsy way of getting the second disc out, Second disc not as good as first.
...The Ramones were, along with the Sex Pistols one of the best punk bands ever, and the Anthology does them proud, over 60 songs are spread out over 2 discs, and include some of their best hits, such as "Rock n Roll High School." and "Commando". It doesnt feel like to much either, even if the first disc will be played more than the second. It's also great value, I got the version without the hardback book andfound it in the 2 for £10 section. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a definative collection of the Ramones without having to buy 6 or 7 albums. A must have.
Bad points? Only 1, the sencond disc is quite hard to get out and the plastic could break, but the music side of things is great and anyone with the smallest interest in punk music should get this....

Advantages: A new facet of rock's greatest Disadvantages: Not for the casual fan
...the same sessions, "If You've Got Trouble", which - true to its title - they were dissatisfied with. 'Oh rock on, anybody!' cried the despairing vocalist, Ringo Starr, halfway through the recording.
Like its predecessor, track 1 is a brand new track based on a John Lennon demo from the late 70s, "Real Love", to which the other three added vocals and instruments in a good 15 years or so later. Though it never rose higher than No. 4 as a single, in my view it is a far better song than the still likeable but rather odd "Free As A Bird".
On balance I'd say that, because of the smaller proportion of 'exclusive' numbers, this is perhaps marginally less essential than Anthology 1, but if you're a devoted fan who bought the first, you probably won't be satisfied without its predecessor. And there was another to come......

Born to Run Review ofBorn To Run - Bruce Springsteenby
Aberdan86
Advantages: The music, the lyrics, The Boss himself... the list goes on Disadvantages: None. (Honest)
...When this album starts, and the first strains of 'Thunder Road' begin, you, the listener are hooked. Springsteen sings with a heartfelt passion and believability that continues to awe his fans. Combine that with lyrics that could have come from an anthology of poetry, and the vibrant music of the E-street band, and you have Born to Run. The image Springsteen paints is of a city so tangible, you can see it when you close your eyes. Taken through the high-points of this city (Born to Run) to the low points (Meeting across the River), this album culminates in the epic 'Jungleland' which would not look out of place on a Broadway musical. This album transcends genre, and time, and is an essential part of any collection. This is an album for music lovers, and reminds you why you starting listening to music in the first place....
