Advantages: It's Fantastic and timeless Disadvantages: None!
...Marc Anthony. Who is he, you may well ask? Well, in my opinion he is a genius song writer and an incredibly talented and heart-felt singer: a man that puts his whole being into every word he sings.
Marc Anthony is a 32 year old American Latino, born and raised in Spanish Harlem. Although he has had a huge following in Latin countries since the early 90's, he only received international acclaim in the English speaking world after the release of this album, in September 1999. The success of the album was kick-started by his huge hit - 'I need to know' and the album subsequently sold a staggering 2 million copies in the US alone. Marc is a talented individual, not only does he sing the songs, but he has also co-written 10 of the tracks.
Such is his popularity, a leading Puerto Rican newspaper hailed Anthony as 'A prophet in his native...

Advantages: Excellent voice Disadvantages: Some songs too slow. Married to J-Lo!!
...This album came out in 1999, I bought it in 2000, after hearing I need to know, whilst on holiday in Turkey, (a vain attempt to keep my holiday memories alive!).
Marc Anthony is a Puerto Rican New Yorker, a Nuyorican, as they have decided to call themselves. He has been around for some years, I believe this is his first English language album, but don't quote me on that. He has starred in a few films, one of which being 'Sneakers', if any of you remeber it, I think it was about computer hackers?
It is the way his voice brakes in the middle of a note that gives it such sincerity and attracted me to buy this album. You just know that whoever he is singing these songs to is definitely a lucky lady. Well, he's singing them to Jennifer Lopez now isn't he? Who would have guessed back then, not I, that's for sure!
Track 1: When I...

Advantages: A definitive early Bowie compilation Disadvantages: DJ links and first five tracks
...This is probably the best compilation of pre "Alladin Sane" David Bowie that you can buy. It's a well selected compilation of radio sessions from the years 1968 to 1972. As a bonus you also get a live Cd recorded at the BBC Radio Theatre in June 2000.
Because these are from radio sessions we get links and introductions from various beeb voices including Brian Matthew and John Peel which amuse and annoy in equal measure. The quality of the recordings are excellent throughout , and as such doubles an essential purchase for new listeners and Bowie-philes alike.
Despite this being an excellent compilation , the first five songs are the pre "Space Oddity" AnthonyNewley impressions (remember "Laughing Gnome", it's not here but it's not far away), so are dispensable but serve to illustrate how uninteresting Bowie was in the early days...
