Album Reviews: No Depression (5-6/00, p.112) - "...A quieter, more acoustic affair than their past work....one of resigned tranquility....[with] a surprisingly coherent sound..."
Advantages: Fantastic lyrical content, beautiful vocals, a brilliant example of what rock can be. Disadvantages: Some songs lack the spark that most featured here possess.
...'m marrying this album. I strongly recommend this as I feel it is the lyrical and musical progression from 'Bright lights', Interpol's fantastic debut, which I would also recommend. Antics is a delicious cocktail of vast guitars, harmonious vocals, and mind swirling lyrics, and I think it is quite accessible, as it seems more crisp and clear than their debut. Despite having all the songs on my computer already, I simply had to own the real deal!...

Advantages: Great follow up album! Exceeded expectations Disadvantages: Not enough songs! We want more interpol!
...Time To Be So Small" is not one of my favourites, but like all the others, still a good song, and classic Interpol. It's fairly slow and melodic, and takes a while to get into. This is probably one of the weaker songs on the album, with a less defined chorus, but still all the essential Interpol features which make this album their best yet.
So, Interpol - "Antics" in a nut shell. Great album, fantastically crafted lyrics, the best you will see from any band, and fantastic melodic sounds.
For existing Interpol fans, I would not hesitate in buying this album, and for those out there experiencing Interpol for the first time, I really recommend you give this a try, if you don't like it at first, keep listening and I'm sure you will.
So… go buy!!
...
And then... go buy their first album!!
Highly recommended...

Advantages: Hard hitting, fast, fun, and loud music. Disadvantages: 50 Foot Wave is not music that everyone will dig.
...and fun. Their first full length album is Golden Ocean.
The Album
The crew headed to LA to record Golden Ocean under the production of Ethan Allen (no, not that one, this one, Fun Fact #3). The album itself was recorded in the summer of 2004 and released earlier this year. All the members of the band share equal credit on songwriting, unusual but honorable in today's music industry.
I will tell you straight up that to really get into this album you must like raw, punky music with lots of energy. Golden Ocean is pure energy. 50 Foot Wave as a sound will not suit everyone's taste. The first run through the album you might find something that catches your ear and next thing you know you are listening to it over and over. Golden Ocean is infectious as athlete's foot in the YMCA shower. The energy and vibe put off by 50 Foot Wave...
