A great film in my opinion, littered with top end stars. The soundtrack, well, littered with litter really. This had the potential to be a massive album, a big american football film should have had multiple tunes, music and sport usually goes well. Not here though.
Who You Gonna Call - Missy Elliott. This aint the ghostbusters one, that would have been a shock but a good Missy production with a spine tingling choir and orchestra giving you the impression of a good opera. Ive never seen one but im guessing it would sound a little like this, just with someone rapping over it. Good track. Reunion - Capone & Noreaga. Im sure Capone was put in jail for drugs but you'll have to look that up. Another similar track to the first using the orchestra and strings to build anticipation. Suprisingly good this one Never Goin Back - Mobb Deep. These two usually rely on their flow to bring the track home but if youre not a fan the beats dont do anything for you so id have to put my thumbs down for this. Sole Sunday - Goldie Mob & Outkast Some dialouge from the film included in this but nothing too much else to report on it. Its just a bit boring really and Andre 3000's uplifting raps dont really give it much lift and the wasy it just fades out at the end with a pitty 'well i tried' feel just sums it up really Shut Em Down - LL Cool J. Ok one of the stars of the film, this is gonna be good. Wrong. Quick raps and shouting fom the man but not great. Its a filler i think he had to get in the cd just so he had some involvement Shut up - Trick Daddy, Trina, Deuce Poppi & Co of the tre+6. Shocking delivery, it just sounds all over the place and content is nothing new. Any Given Sunday - Jamie Foxx, Guru & Common. Ok the big hitters now, an actual tune from the film. At last. It sounds 50% better when you can visualise something when a song is playing and from memory there was quite a poignant moment in the film when this is played. Good tune Whatever It Takes - P.O.D. We got some metal on the go now, lively. Not what i expected but its a nice change. Intimidating guitars and drums make this a nice addition F**k that - Kid Rock. Average this one, not too much happening in it Be A Man - Hole. A bit more metal for ya, another not bad track in a break from the norm. Vocals arent great but i suppose they dont have to be when you have massive guitar rifts My Ni**as - DMX. Another track from the film but not as good as the Jamie Foxx one, a filler that you cant really sing along too Jump - Mystikal. An early Neptunes production in this one and if you try to remove him from shouting in your ear, the beats are good. If there was any choice of an instrumental it should have been here! Move Right Now - Swizz Beats, Eve & Drag-on. The swizz tracks can be very inconsistent when he produces them, some are hits for years and some sound childish and amateur, this is one of the latter Why - Gobsmack. Quite a heavy tune this one, another intimidating metal addition which is quite refreshing. Its not one of my favs but at least theres more thought put into it than some of the hip hop tracks Stompbox - Overseer. A trip hop type track for the pinultimate. Lively Prodigy/Pendulum type track which would be at home in a club. Still good though Any Given Sunday Outro - Jamie Foxx. Just another non rap version of track 7. A good inspiring song to finish the cd, but havent i already heard this!?
Watch the film, leave the disc alone, Live the dream
