Advantages: a varied mix of different styles, times, countries Disadvantages: none
...This is a really good introduction into arabic music.
CD1 has classical singers such as the egyptian Farid El Atrache (when I hear this song I always think of Samia Gamal dancing) and lebanese Sabah (who is still going on today and only last year released a couple of pop songs with Rola a young pop singer).
My favourite is CD2 which contains very famous pop singers such as Nancy Ashram (I defy anybody to sit still through Ahasmak Ah!) , Elissa (lebanon) and Amr Diab. Amr Diab is probably the most famous singer,he is from egypt and across the arab world he has outsold Michael Jackson and Madonna to name but a few....very good to dance to. CD 3 is laid back arabic lounge...just kick back and enjoy the shisha! This is a good taster CD as I feel it has something for everybody and is very danceable....

Advantages: very lively Disadvantages: there are some part of the songs that are too noisy
...I like the song and i think that it is fit for the movie because it is lively with a touch of funkiness. The intro of the song where the variousartists sang in acapella has a big impact as well. I like the blending of their voices as well as their funky suits in their music video. I just find it too noisy in the latter part of the song because each the variousartists tend to sing their own tunes. I like the packaging of the cd as well as the cd itself. Great music! Really groovy! and it makes the listener groove to the music! it is a must have cd and it is actually one of my favorite because i like such kinds of music genre. It has its own originality and is very hip and cool!...

Good for clubbers. Review ofArabian Nights Vol.1 (Club & Chillout Classics) - VariousArtistsby
mavimelek
Advantages: There are 2 CDs, each with a different ambience. Disadvantages: Not very traditional.
...When I bought this CD, I was expecting traditional sounds with a drum and bass backbeat possibly, as the thing that draws me to arabic music is the vocals, and the range of sounds that amazingly eminate from one persons mouth.
They have two CDs No. 1 : The Casbah, faster remixes suited to dancing. and No. 2 : The Majlis, this is when you sit, chill and smoke some hookah, whilst listening to the slower jams.
Unfortunately, they have not only remixed and revamped the music, they have done the same to the vocals.
Some of the songs can be a tad too long, clocking up to 7/8 minutes, which doesn't seem too bad, that's if you like said song in the first place.
But, don't get me wrong, I still enjoy listening to it, but as soon as I come across a good revamped modernised arabic CD with original vocals, this one is going to be gathering...
