Advantages: Unique example of early nineties Pop
Disadvantages: Not enough of it!

...In 1993, the Pet Shop Boys (Neil Tennant, vocals and Chris Lowe, keyboards) introduced "very" which encapulated the boys at the highlight of their career. The Boys released their first album "please" in 1986, and this was followed by "actually" in 1987. The remix CDs "introspective" and "disco" were also released during the eighties. The Pet Shop boys, along with other groups such as Duran Duran, dominated British pop in the late eighties, yet their album "Behaviour" released in 1990 was not as succesful as they had hoped. They spent three years on their next album Very, and the time and effort paid off, the album was uniform of the camp style pop in the early nineties but the Pet Shop Boys had approached it in a way different to other artists, and their uniquity shone through. Advantages: Classic electro album, remastering adds a real boost

...it was a bit of a rush job sound wise, this one has been remastered and benefits from a far tighter sound, particularly the lower end where Foxx does like to crank it a bit. WIth a suitably decent HiFi there are some nice noises here to excercise your system but everyone should benefit from the improved quality. A further bonus is the inclusion of extra tracks in the form of singles and B-sides from around the Metamatic era although some start to lean towards the rather different sound he adopted with the next album, The Garden. For anyone who was around between the mid 70's to late 80's and has an interest in the roots of electro, this is a must have purchase. Foxx seems to be going the way of Numan from a few years back i.e. long forgotton but suddenly being namechecked by the great and the good and in Foxx's case, whether it's the three... Read review

Advantages: Sumptuous sound, great production, typically offbeat
Disadvantages: An overdone electro beat, corny in places

...new sound it was. The last vestiges of the thundering 70s had been shed by La Folie and now the band was immersing itself in mellow electronica and moody posturing. Where once the Stranglers had spat furious contempt from the front of the stage, they now turned up their collars and smouldered haughtily in the ultra-chic Parisienne shadows (happily, they were still very much their old abrasive selves during live performances). Feline was all about synthesizers and more synthesizers, breathy vocals, Spanish-style guitars and electronic drums. It was a very European album, a very un-Stranglers album. It was also, for the most part, a very good album.
