Holidays in the Axis of Evil - an A-Z of Iran

Advantages: Fabulous people, fascinating things to see
Disadvantages: Headscarves, awful food, expensive visas

cost millions of lives - estimates vary between one and three million - cost the Iranians a trillion dollars (that's a million millions), and at the end of the day the borders were almost exactly where they started. Those who died are considered to be martyrs and you will see photographs and murals of the local martyrs on the roundabouts of every city. There's even a TV channel which we dubbed 'Martyr TV' which shows photos and honours the dead all day long. The martyrs cemetery in Tehran is a moving monument to the futility of this conflict. ~ J is for Journeys ~ Flights in Iran are amazingly cheap - you can fly from Esfahan to Tehran for less than £20. Coach or bus travel is also really cheap - bear in mind the fuel costs are silly. There are a lot of police road blocks and your driver will sometimes have to negotiate eight lanes ...

City of Isfahan

Advantages: beautiful city with many famous architectures from iran's 16th century
Disadvantages: nothing

Isfahan is a city located in central iran. isfahan is an industrial city with many important industrial factories located around it for example iran's biggest steel making factory in iran named Fulade Mobarakeh. also isfahan is a city with many historical sites. for example Naghshe-Jahan-Squar is a unesco world heritage site build in the 16th century. A famous river , Zayanderud, crosses the city. Several beautiful bridges are on this river like Khaju and Siosepol bridges. The most beautiful time to visit isfahan is in spring and specifically april and may. The people of isfahan have a cool sense of humour and are known to be economically savvy. In isfahan minority christians and jews live alongside muslims. There are several churches in the city like the Vank church. Isfahan is also famous for it's handcrafts. ...

Road To Perfection

Advantages: Looks fantastic, acting is great, interesting story
Disadvantages: Slightly predictable towards the end

For such a famous director, Sam Mendes has made very few films. Only two in fact; the multi-Oscar winning American Beauty and this 2002 follow-up, Road To Perdition. Although follow-up isn't really the right term, as this is completely different. I was surprised to find that this did not win any major Oscars, although it was nominated for about six, because it really is a brilliant film. I was also surprised that for such a great film, it was not advertised very well; I didn't really know anything about this film before I saw it, and I bet lots of people don't know about it at all, which is a shame. The story tells of a hit man for the Irish mafia, Mike Sullivan (played by Tom Hanks). He and his two sons have a close relationship with the godfather John Rooney (played by Paul Newman). Sullivan keeps his job a secret from his ...
