Arturo Delmoni: Violin Recital

...(Rewrite on 09/07/2001) Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (great italian "virtuoso") spent his life to search a kind of perfection during interpretations. He knew this perfection to be impossible but, for him, "perfection" was union between composer and player. Then,this perfection isn't impossible... Glenn Gould tryed the same sound by his pianos: in this way he was very careful to music structure: beauty of musical phrases, to give a geometrical "presence" to music a.s.o. Of course his Bach interpretations (but Beethoven and Mozart also), even if on a piano and not on a harpsichord or "fortepiano" , are excellent. Michelangeli is on the other side of the moon... Advantages: one of the greatest bands in the world.

...is known as the Dead flag blues, it’s a song comprising of 4 movements. 1st movement known as the dead flag blues (intro.) a spoken word piece, comprising of a old man speaking apocalyptic verses of requiem and woe. Beautiful poetry recited from a old man. Backing this is a chorus of violins building slowly. starting off slowly this guitar, cello and violin led sound cape gently builds up into a crescendo of dreams. Majestic soundscapes are envisioned and a gentle aura of warmth coupled with chilling woe. Separate violin and cello pieces slither delicately through the main flow of guitar and violin and later into the piece, mandolin. suddenly it ends with a short clipped spoken word piece. 2nd movement. - slow moving trains. a creaking, clanking, tooting train starts of the third piece of sonic experimentation. The first obvious clue that you are on to something new and different is that where the guitar solo would be, this band instead use a excert from a police patrol car radio transmission. Space has the same heavy drum and bass drive, yet is a more laid back affair, Justins voice sounding as rich as it ever can and again with a suprise middle 8 bar, the distant voice of a women reciting a poem is just made out in the background. Innocence is a pounding affair, with some amazing time changes and the beat of the song stoping and re-starting with precise timing. A song whose arrangement seems only to be the product of the studio, yet the band did tour with such a complex song, a testament to their abilities. Enter another new element to the album, the violin. This album like Thunder and Consolation before marked the bands... Read review
