Advantages: Up beat and fascinating Disadvantages: not an easy listen.
I'm going to put my neck on the block here and say that, in my opinion, this album should have won the Mercury Music Prize. But please, wait before you being to start throwing rotten tomatoes and dead animals and things at me! I know that, for a lot of people, either the Kaiser Chiefs or Maximo Park should've won, but please allow me to explain myself. Where as Kaiser Chiefs is like bad Blur mixed with SpiceGirl-Kinks, MIA is like nothing else. Looking ... ...And do not even get me started on Hard-Fi. If I were forced to make a comparison I would, perhaps, liken this album to Original Pirate Material mixed with I-don't-know-what. MIA sounds like she has something to talk about, and she does it very well, surrounding her sparkling lyrics with simple, but effective beats.
