Kiss FM london first brought my attention to these two belgian DJ'S, who also have their own Indie band, Soulwax.

2 Many DJ'S are the kings of the "MASH-UP" - thats DJ terminology for a bootleg or two or more tracks fused together to make one.

Steven and David Dewaele are behind 2 Many DJ's and it took them a staggering 36 months to get this album licensed, and it is not surprising they have taken 46 tracks, crossing genres to make one hour long CD that will have you dancing and scratching your head and asking your pals to "name that tune"

2 Many DJ's have taken eclecticism and given it thier own unique spin, the album is a must have and was one of the best selling albums of 2002.

The CD opens with a Live version of Emerson, lake and palmers "Peter Gun" that they slowly blend into a basment jaxx tune, the album sails seamlessly through Dance, to rock, to indie, to electroclash, and even Dolly Parton.

Hearing this album inspired me to take to my decks and try the art of "Mashing Up" myself, if I ever meet the Dewaele brothers I will have to buy them a pint as they have inspired me to do something I never thought I would be able to do.

Even the packaging of the CD is clever, the CD itself looks like a CD-Rom that has been copied and the cover art is very punk-sex pistol-esque feturing a delightful picture of a suited guy wearing a paper bag on his head giving the two finger salute.

Perhaps the v-sign is a signal to those who made life so hard for 2 Many DJ's when they were puttin the album together, after all they had to get approval from around 40 different record companies before they could put this album out.

So back to the music itself, some of the tracks have made their way into mainstream, many times have I heard the 10cc/Destiny's Child mash up played and if you havent heard it, Independent Dreadlock is a blend of Independent Woman by Destiny's Child and 10cc's famous Dreadlock holiday ( I dont like cricket, I love it)

Radio Soulwax did not give birth to the Mash Up, but they have made it into an art form.

The album will appeal to all an ideal party album for people like me who have freinds that listen to everything and could even open your eyes to genres of music you would not normally think of listening to.

Go out and buy this album as soon as you can, it is the subject of many conversations and owning a copy is your key to musical enlightenment!!
