Advantages: Tracks like Who and Muscles Disadvantages: Too many mediocre tracks
...Riding high on the success of her multi-million selling album, Why Do Fools Fall In Love (1981), her first project for RCA Records, Ross returned to the recording studios at the dawn of 1982 to self-produce another studio album (her contractual obligation was to deliver one album per year for RCA).
Ross was clearly enjoying experimenting and divulging her music into other genres. With Silk Electric (1982) she completely tried to shake off and escape the style that had made her famous. Ross was obviously trying to create a new, distinctive sound to keep up with the ever changing musical tastes of the 80's but as a result her music lost a lot of its fire on this album.
However Silk Electrics' premier single was something of a pop masterpiece. That track was of course the slinky, evocative Muscles written and produced by the all...

...I was not a huge fan of this album when it first came out. i still can't listen to 'golden touch', as i must have heard it about 300 times now! the rest of it seemed quite middle-of-the-road. However, after enjoying the band's second album so much, i decided to go back and give it a second chance. I'm very pleased i did! this album is full of cracking tunes - 'stumble and fall' & 'vice' are euthoric, jump around rockers, but both have the story and emotional punch to match. the songs i really loved second time around were 'don't go back to dalston' and 'to the sea', songs that are well worth a second listen. Overall, if you're looking for an introduction to Razorlight, buy the second album before this one. however this is well worth a listen!...

Advantages: Its a good mixed debut album and not in slightest S Club-esque Disadvantages: Its not Some Girls good all the way through!
...on the album, in fact could go for direst song ever! It reeks of desperation to be some credible R&B diva nad ends up falling flat on its face. Rachel your a pop starlet who can do electro, don’t try hard R&B your not Kelis or Jamelia!
From awful to amazing with following song ‘Little Secret’ this is R&B she can do, cos its pop with R&B. This is sexy and quite gritty in a pop way – yes that can happen. Its all about “no one will know what we get upto” and if there had been a video to this it would have been something smutty. I like this song it sticks in your head and is bordering credible.
‘Solid’ should have been on an S Club album… it’s a blatant stab at it but this time it works. It’s a simple mid tempo ballad about the solidity of love. Cheesy, slightly camp and annoyingly catchy.
From this song the mother of ballads ‘Silk’. This could...
