HIM - Venus Doom review
Review of Venus Doom (Limited Edition) [Digipak] - HIM by lasvegasdisastermovie

Advantages: amazing new album from finnish love metal band HIM
Disadvantages: cyanide sun drags on a bit.

...the stellar 2007 launch of the finnish quintet's love metal album 'Venus Doom' created a wave of excitement through the metal community. going back to the less polished sound of Dark Light, and more towards the much older doom metal of Greatest Love Songs vol.666, Venus Doom presents a more mature evolution of the band. despite the 'back to basics' change however, we still see this as a HIM album, from the guitar filled love in cold blood, the crooning of bleed well to the doom laden title track. being a huge HIM fan myself, i definately praise this album as one of the band's best - my favourite being deep shadows and brilliant highlights - so any like minded fan may view this album the same way.... Awesome album of Lautari music
Review of Sounds From A Bygone Age Vol.2 [Digipak] - Romica Puceanu & The Gore Brothers by dangaroo

Advantages: Some great recordings of rare tracks
Disadvantages: Misses some of Romica's best works

...musicians who don't try to cram too much in and give Puceanu plenty of room for her massive vocal range to be displayed. This album is one of the few great examples of early old taraf music. I definitely recommend buying this as well as a later album which includes the legendary track Saraiman. Musicians: Romica Puceanu - vocals Aurel Gore - violin Victor Gore - accordion and vocals (6 & 11) Marin Marangros - cymbalom Grigore Ciuciu - double bass Maslina Vetoi - cobzy Costel Vasilescu - trumpet unknown - violin Tracklist: 1. Great if you don't own the Greatest Hits album
Review of Best Of 2Pac Vol.1, The (Thug/Parental Advisory) [Digipak] [PA] - 2Pac by Xanshin

Advantages: Good selection of tracks, diversity
Disadvantages: There has already been a Greatest Hits album previously

...First of all, this album is definately worth buying as long as you DON'T already own the 2 disc "Greatest Hits" album. If you already own that album, there is only one track on here that is previously unreleased and so you would be better advised to avoid this. Assuming you don't own the Greatest Hits already, this is a really great CD showing the diversity of 2Pac's work. 2Pac was very diverse in the topics he discusses and their styles. The album includes examples of his early style, where he would discuss his routes a lot more. An example on this album is "Trapped", which is originally featured on his debut album "2Pacalypse Now". We also get to experience his more sensitive side with tracks such as "I ain't mad at cha", in which Pac discusses the many friends he has lost due to the change in his life style. Meanwhile, songs like... Read review
