...is a funny drawing of two people stood around a big curly fire, and some birds flying around the title which is written in a handwriting looking style at the top. Sorry I haven’t got a picture to put up but it does look very good and does seem to suit the music on the album. Song by song short descriptions: 1) (I Don’t Have The Time To) Mess Around: Starts the album of with quiet electric guitar, before bursting into life with bouncy country style harmony singing, banjo and pedal steel. Features my favourite line “There’s a beast banging on my door, all my teeth lay scattered on the floor” and a great piano solo. 2) Twelve Eyes Of Evil: Straightforward quick tempo song, where the singer (Steven Adams) sings almost non-stop apart from a nice little pedal steel solo in the middle and an acoustic guitar solo at the end. CODE members have already gained experience in other bands (VOID, DODHEIMSGARD, VED BUENS ENDE, ULVER) before coming up with their remarkable debut album "Nouveau Gloaming", and thus their style is of mixed origins: We find old-fashioned early '90ies black metal walls-of-guitar-sound and drum patterns of sometimes breathtakingly tight construction, as well as guttural growls galore. However, this merely provides a canvas to all kinds of morbid song from post-punk to the avant-garde, which are thrown together, stuck on it, and coated over with a thick paint of black metal pigments.
