Album Reviews: The Wire (p.55) - "Connors's solitary electric guitar drifts gracefully through a lagoon of amniotic echo, unhurried and utterly beguiling."
Advantages: By far the best Stone Roses album. Disadvantages: You will want to splash the cash and buy more stone roses after hearing this.
...This is a must for any self respecting record collection. It is by far the best Stone Roses album available, containing all the cult hits you'll hear pumping out at any indie club. So learn all the words and you'll be singing along with the rest of the slightly aging, but still trying to be trendy fan base. The only down side though is that after hearing this album you will feel the need to splash more cash on further albums. This is definately a classic. A word of warning though. Advantages: Top tunes and a good cause Disadvantages: couple of weaker tracks

The artwork for the cd features a front cover painting by The Stone Rose’s John Squire featuring coloured dog tags (?) overstamped with the word HELP, a back cover by Massive Attacks 3D depicting the personnel effect of an air raid and text by Nirvana’s Krist Novosetic reminding us that Kosovo was only one in a series of war crimes since the end of WW11.

...The Smiths (1982-1987) are widely seen as the last great British group. Over studio Albums, b-side collections, compilations and one-off singles, they produced an astonishing breadth of work with a consistently high standard of songwriting.
British music in the eighties can be summed up simply as: The Smiths and the rest. The partnership between the poetic and skilled Morrissey and the guitar genius Johnny Marr is one of the most important and influential in British music history.
This review is of The Smiths' singles collection, released long after they'd split.
