..."Black the Sun" is Australian Alex Lloyd's debut album and within it are all the influences you would expect of a modern day songwriter, from the Beck meets Lenny Kravitz of "Momo" the U2 tinges of "Something Special" and the almost trip hop feel of the single "Black the Sun" (set to be released on the 30th of October). But listing these and any of his other influences does not do Alex Lloyd the justice he deserves, the more "Black the Sun" is listened to the deeper the songs work into your brain and the more unique it sounds. There is a timeless feeling to the vocals which are unobtrusive but effective and the mixture of acoustic guitars, modern technology and sampled sounds gives this album a life all of its own. This is an album that may struggle in the quick turn around manufactured pop group/star style that dominates the UK chart... Read review

...If you are getting a little fed up with all the rock,indie dance and pop music flooding the charts this is definately worth checking out, David jordan is the next big brit talent who has been likened as the metaphorical love child of michael jackson and jimmy hendrix. His soul type song's are a refreshing change to the norm. The album Set The mood contains his three released singles, sun goes down, piece of my heart and his new single set the mood, as well as 8 more tracks and i can honestly say unlike some albums where you get three or four good tracks, which are released as singles and the rest is just crap to fill up the album, everysong is great. Track List: Sun Goes down - one of my favourites, reminds me of summer catchy lyrics and the tune seems turkish or arabian inspired - overall definately something for summer barbques... Read review

Advantages: Tracks ooze a 'feel-good factor', reminding you of summer trips to the seaside.
Disadvantages: Poor track length and 'whiney' backing vocals of Beach Boys similarity.

...Overview… Silver Sun signed to Polydor's record label in 1997 after just 8 gigs. They are probably best known for the hits 'I'll See You Around' and 'Too Much, Too Little, Too Late'. Originally called 'Sun' (later discovering this was the name of a German band), Silver Sun took a background 'Britpop' seat to bands such as Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene and The Charlatans. The band found its largest audience in Asia, particularly Japan, releasing two albums and six Top 40 hits. Often likened to Cheap Trick, Silver Sun recently made a comeback in November 2005 with the single 'Immediate' after five years away from the limelight.
