As Time Goes By
With at least four albums of unheard Carpenters material already released, you'd have

thought the well would surely be dry by now. Yet with As Time Goes By, Richard Carpenter digs up another batch of outtakes, demos and TV performances to delight the duo's legions of fans. A legendary perfectionist, he's eschewed the "warts and all" approach, and instead rearranged, remixed and often rerecorded the original backing tracks to lend that famous Carpenters smoothness to even the ropier TV efforts. Most interesting are the endearingly innocent garage versions of "Nowhere Man" and "California Dreamin'", recorded in 1967 when Karen was just 16, a sweet 1971 cover of Wildweeds' "And When He Smiles" and a pretty take on Kermit the Frog's classic "The Rainbow Connection". Elsewhere, there's a warm and loungey medley where Karen and Perry Como sing each other's songs, and a glorious duet with Ella Fitzgerald where "My Funny Valentine" and "Someone to Watch Over Me" are made to shine once more. Richard displays his keyboard virtuosity with "Dizzy Fingers" and a grand medley of sci-fi themes, and the only disappointment is a cover of "Dancing in the Street" where Karen fails to really capture the song's joyous mood. Despite this, it's a must for all fans of easy listening. --Dominic Wills
Advantages: Light. But heavy. Disadvantages: Too many cover versions
...A BEGINNERS GUIDE TO LED ZEPPELIN
It's 1968 - ace session musos Jimmy Page (guitar) and John Paul Jones (bass), at the time the two finest exponents of either instrument - find themselves needing a drummer and singer to form group to complete contractual obligation tour as the New Yardbirds. Enter black country rockers Robert Plant (vocals) and John Bonham (drums) and voila!! Led Zeppelin are born. The most important British group of the late 20th century retire to London to record their debut album, in stereo nonetheless.
THE ALBUM........
Genuine Zepp classic Good Times Bad Times gets the ball rolling, blues/rock until the bridge, "ah suck!" and then Jimmygoes off on what would be his trademark; on of those 1000 note solos.
My personal favourite off this album, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (cover of a Joan Baez original...

Advantages: Very divers and emotional album. Highlights of this album are the uptempos. Disadvantages: On this album, the slower songs really demonstrate a weakness in instrumental and songwriting.
...A great CD for Jimmy Eats World, Bleeds American features some great songs, some good songs, and some misses. Highlights include radio favourites "Bleed American", "The Middle", and "Sweetness". On songs like "Bleed American" the listener is exposed to a darker, edgier side of Jimmy Eat World, and one almost wishes World would have expanded on this sentiment throught. However, the uplifting nature of the ablbum cannot be discounted- songs such as "Praise Chorus" and "The Middle" are great both for their melodies and messages, and are garunteed to make the listener want to get up and move. Near misses and misses include the down tempo songs, in which the repetetive nature of Jimmy Eat World's song writting becomes obvious and at times, painful and boring. In the long run, however, this flaw is by far overshadowed by the suberb lyrics...

Advantages: Good Comeback Disadvantages: Cant think of any
...American Idiot is a nice fresh album from Green Day. This goes back to how they used to play about 10 years ago.
This is a huge improvement on Warning and Shenanigans, which in my opinion were terrible albums.
It\'s more focus on a set a characters, and tells a story throughout the album.
Many songs also seem to have a double meaning, not only the story of the characters but a political statement.
This album also contains 2 ballads as well, lasting around 10 mins each. This has not been done in many punk rock albums in a long time, and they have mastered it.
This album is definately worth buying, I would highly recommend it!
Singles release from this album include:
American Idiot
Holiday
Boulivard Of Broken Dreams
The General Track Listing is:
American Idiot
Jesus of Suburbia
Holiday
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Are We the Waiting...
