Ascendancy (Special Edition/+DVD) - Trivium

Advantages: Explosive Lyrics, Ear piercing Riffs and Gut Wrenching Drumming

When I first heard "Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr" on my mother's TV back in 2005 I watched in awe as the 4 members of the band played a blistering rendition of the song. I was hooked. I found a copy of "Ascendancy" at a local music shop and it has been played almost every day since. The lyrical genius of Matt Heafy has since been engrained in my head as I listen to the album maybe 10 or more times each week, sad? well maybe but as yet ...

The album's line-up typically contains the type of sound you'd expect from a metal band singing about death, grief and rage, played with some amazing musical solos. Ascendancy, however, is much more. I bought this album about 5 months ago after hearing the song " a gunshot to the head of trepidation" which is a song filled with great riffs ( easily learnt by a beginner guitarist) and great lyrics. if any of you reading this has heard te song the anthem which im sure you have because mtv2 love to play this song, this album is nothing like that song this album is more " hardcore, screamy" if thats the right way to put it. the one bad thing i have ...
...metal heavy metal and there new one is toned down you could say. which in my eyes is not good dont get my wrong they are still awesome but metal is what they are good at doing and toning it down just to get more popular so therefore to get more money shows me that they dont play because they enjoy it but because they want to make money. maybe im completely wrong but this still puts me off a little with the new album. Great Album Great Band, I went to a gig with trivium playing and they had a Sign saying Trivium Saved Metal and i cant argue with that. Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr is the song that got trivium reconised and now i know why that is the song that made me fall in love with them. There aint a song on this album that i dont like any metal fan will love this album. Also the Second Disc has 9 videos some like and some released videos. This ... Read review
