Ashanti is probably well remembered from her appearance in Ja Rule's "Always on Time" Video back in April 2002.
Ja Rule then signed Ashanti to his record label Murder Inc. Ashanti also had a duet with Fat Joe. She was responsible for the catachy lyrics for "Whats Luv" After these two massive hits Ashanti released her debut album called "Ashant". I personally thought that it was going to be as big an album as her duets with Jar Rule and Fat Joe and I was disappointed.
Ashanti co-wrote JLo's song "Ain't it Funny" the remix - which was another massive hit.
Ashanti's albums are worth listening to if you like RnB music. Her sound is unique an I think that her voice is great. She is not like artists that come out and think they are too nice.
Ashanti is talented and at a very young age she has already renowned for singing and song writing.
Now some people have been saying that Ashanti is the new Aaliyah. God rest her soul. All I am going to say is that no one can ever eve replace Aaliyah but Ashanti is good in her own right.
The album is good but there is still space for some improvements for example: the same song which is "One More Chance" by Notorious BIG. (Foolish and Unfoolish)
There are some tracks that I like from this album:
1. INTRO - this just plays bits of songs from where she started out for example: "Always on Time" and "Whats Luv" and some others.
2. HAPPY - this was Ashanti's second release from this album. As you have guessed from the title of this song......it is a happy song! If you have seen the video to this song you'd probably say that the song is better than the video - so would I.
3. RESCUE - this is the longest track on this album. Dpn't have the slightest clue why its so long, but its still a good song!!!! About 3 minutes before the song finishes there no singing just music. I think that parts really good. Even Nelly Furtado did it in "Promiscueous"
Overall, I think that the album was impressive but there are some areas she could've done without. She should try to make her sound unique before she releases another LP. No need to be like all those divas out there.
I would definitely recommend this album if your into RnB as there are some tracks that will satisfy you.
As she is now a bit more experience in songwriting I think that her forthcoming LPs will definitely be something for everyone out there.
