Remorse Is For The Dead (5.39) This is the best track on the album by a mile! The acoustic intro combines with occuring double-bass beats sound's absolutley amazing! The singing here is amazing, with some catchy lyrics, wich you will attempt to growl along to! 'If these walls could talk, they would tell a horror story' a classic lyric. The drumming here again is dangerously good! But the guitars really ... more
This is Lamb Of God's most recent album, realeased in 2004. The band play a unique brand of death metal, with an amazing line up of talent within the band: Randy Blythe: Lead Vocals Willie Adler: Guitar Mark Morton: Guitar John Campbell: Bass Chris Adler: Drums
Laid To Rest (3.50) This song has a terrifying intro! The guitars are straight into their routine and full off an amazing riff. The intro verse has a very 'Children Of Bodom' feel about it and worked well with the first guitar riff. The constant semi-pinch harmoinics sounded much better than the full pinch harmonic would have, and I'm sure the bane were aware of that. The vocals here are very aggressive and work well with the band's whole aggressive attitude. The drumming on this track are amazing also, in constant unison with teh guitar's, showing the band are very tight and play well together. The interlude to this song is very heavy and one of the best they've written. Rating: 10/10
Hourglass (4.00) This song has a very typicall Lamb Of God riff, with a lot of twisted notes and triplets in it. The guitar's tone is perfect, and I love the way both guitarist's switch from both playing, to one playing and the other coming in later, wich gives a nice effect. The lyrics and vocals here are excellent again and fit the song perfectly. The interlude here is amazing, with the first guitar playing the lower rhythm and the second coming in later and playing an amazing harmony, wich sound's absolutley stunning. The drumming is perfect as ever, and there are some nice fills and rhythm part's played. Rating: 9/10
Now You've Got Something To Die For (3.39) What an intro! I love this brutal guitar intro and the vocalist screaming 'Now you've got something to die for!' it's moments like this that set them apart from their rivals. The drumming in this track are amazing, you can constantly here the amazing fill's n riff's he plays, and he had amazing foot controll on this song too, the double-bass constantly beating. The interlude here is another one worked well between both guitars with one playing a heavy rhythm and the other going over that with a different riff. Complicated but effective. Rating: 9/10
The Faded Line (4.37) Once you hear this intro you will get hooked on this song, an absolute classic piece. The guitarists seem to never be able to run out of amazing bone crushing riff's! The chorus part is amazing with the guitars playing a very fast pulloff combined with open E bashing! The vocals here are amazing again, you expect his growling just to cut off, because it sounds so hard to keep it up! The lyrics are again very well written 'Walk the faded line, cursed crawl of time' one of the best lines. The drumming is brilliant again the constant complicated riff's and fills he plays are amazing. Rating: 9/10
Blood Of The Scribe (4.23) This has another powerfull riff to open up, it has that twisted melody line involved with the heavy rhythm, wich is this band's style. The best riff is at the (1.36) mark, the high pitched, hammer-on pull-off combination is the riff you notice the most. The voclas are perfect again, the deep growling, sounding like a tormented lion! The lyrics here are very well written 'Rest comes easy to the guiltless' one of the best lines here. The drumming is less noticeable in this song, but is very rhythmic and keeping a very good beat. Rating: 10/10

Review of Ashes Of The Wake (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Lamb Of God
Advantages: amazing guitar/drum work, great production, intense lyrical content Disadvantages: very heavy and might not appeal to average listener
...with the 2004 release of Ashes of the Wake. This album is a MUST HAVE for any metal fan. The guitar and drum work is absolutely brilliant throughout and will leave you wanting more. The album kicks off with "Laid to Rest" probably the most well known song by Lamb of God. They don't mess around as the song starts with one of the best metal riffs of all time. Willie and Mark show their great ability to counterpoint each other on the guitar and serve ... ...song "Hourglass" comes out blazing with another great riff. The song progresses with amazing riff after amazing riff, especially towards the end of the song were Willie and Mark produce a brilliantly harmonized dark riff that I think makes the song.
The 3rd song "Now You've Got Something To Die For" is a crowd favorite when they play live, and for good reason. The lyrics are very ferocious and speak true to the times. Again the guitar riffs come ...

Album Notes
Lamb Of God: Randy Blythe (vocals); Mark Morton, Willie Adler (guitar); John Campbell (bass instrument); Chris Adler (drums). Recording information: Water Music Recorders, Hoboken, New Jersey; LOG, Richmond, VA. Following up a successful appearance at Ozzfest 2004, prog-metal outfit Lamb of God released ASHES OF THE WAKE, its major-label debut. Wielding a sound that's crushingly heavy while still maintaining a righteous groove, LOG serves up in-your-face metal that's sure to please fans of Pantera and Slayer. Frontman Randy Blythe howls with a voice reminiscent of Venom's Kronos, as he rants about finding salvation in vice ("The Faded Line") and organized crime's code of honor ("Omerta"). Fueled by the double-kick-drum ferocity of skin-basher Chris Adler, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler lay down a two-pronged attack that falls somewhere between the pummeling assault of classic American thrash and the more melodic and orchestral complexity of European metal. Anyone doubting Adler and Morton's chops need listen no further than the gnarly instrumental title cut, which finds Lamb of God's axe-wielders forming a musical relay team with guest guitarists Alex Skolnick (Testament) and Chris Poland (Megadeth) amid interview sound-bites of soldiers serving in Iraq. ASHES OF THE WAKE finds Lamb of God at the forefront of a new wave of American metal.
