The first cd in this double collection is Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison. It was recorded in 1968 (well before i was born). This was the time of Presidential Abdication, The Vietnam War and the continuing Civil Rights struggle. It was also the same year Mr. Johnny Cash married Miss June Carter, his saviour. This cd really opened my eyes to what life was like "back in the day". With 19 great songs including "Folsom Prison Blues", "Cocaine Blues" and the fantastic "Jackson" a duet with June. There had never been a recording session quite like this one which produced this album. The songs on the cd's:-
1 Folsom prison blues 2 Busted 3 Dark as the dungeon 4 I still miss someone 5 Cocaine Blues 6 25 minutes to go 7 Orange Blossom Blues 8 The long Black Veil 9 Send a picture of Mother 10 The wall 11 Dirty old egg-suckin' dog 12 Flushed from the bathroon of your heart 13 Joe bean 14 Jackson 15 Give my love to rose 16 I got stripes 17 The legend of John Henry's hammer 18 Greeen, Green grass of home 19 Greyston chapel The Second is at San Quentin, it was recorded a year after At Folsom, it too has some wonderfull songs including "Big River" "Starkville City Jail" which Johnny tells a story about the song before he sings it ,and of course the world famous "Ring Of Fire" and "Walk The Line. The Songs on this cd are:-
1 Big River 2 I still miss someone 3 Wreck of the old 97 4 I walk the line 5 Darlin' companion 6 I don't know where I'm bound 7 Starkville city jail 8 San Quentin 9 San Quentin 10 Wanted man 11 A boy name Sue 12 (There'll be) Peace in the Valley 13 Folsom Prison Blues 14 Ring of fire 15 He turned the water into wine 16 Daddy sang bass 17 The old account was settled long ago 18 Closing medley: Folsom prison blues/I walk the line/Ring of fire/The rebel-Johnny Yuma
The album cost me £9.99 but the shop I got it from has now closed due to administration, but I'm sure you could but it from HMV and on-line. I bought it because I had heard some of the songs before and I knew that when I listened to it I was lisetning to history in the making. My favourite songs from both cds are "Cocaine blues", "Jackson" "I got stripes" " I walk the line" "Ring of fire".
I can honestly say I can not find any disadvantages to this 2 disc album.
This double Cd Album changed my attitude about country music and life. RIP Johnny Cash your music will live on.

Welcome to ciao skye-angel_85. I read this review earlier and have decided to rate you very helpful now that you have taken my comments to your guestbook on board and have added much more information. The first one is always a bit difficult but keep it up and browse other ciao reviews for pointers. Well done.
