Their Finest Album?
Review of Masterplan, The - Oasis by StevenAlderdice

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...Their Finest Album? Many people would say so, unlike normal albums there are no dodgy tracks that maybe should have been left off. The 1st song on the album is Acquiesce the B-side to Some Might Say. A truly rocking song. Another track is Rockin'Chair the B-side to Roll With It which blows the A-side out of the water, In my opinion the best Oasis song...ever! Song 10 is Half The World Away, the theme song to the BBC comedy The Royle Family. The album ends with the song Noel thinks is the best he has ever written, The Masterplan. What a beautiful song. Why these songs were B-sides we will never know but they are better than the A-sides of any other band of the 90s... Read review

Welcome!
Review of Welcome To The Pleasure Dome - Frankie Goes To Hollywood by bagoproverbial

Advantages: Truly classic 80s pop
Disadvantages: Maybe a little too adventurous in places? Otherwise none

...When I was a kid, like may other kids I detested the clutch of smarmy, self-satisfied radio 1 DJs that ruled the airwaves back then- so gratifyingly lampooned by Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse. Mike Read was one such smarm, and bizarrely Frankie Goes to Hollywood fans such as I have something to thank this man for- helping to bring this band not only to their attention but to the attnetion of the masses. By the end of 1984 Frankie Goes to Hollywood were arguably the biggest pop band on the planet, due in part to Mike Read's refusal to play their single "Relax" on the radio on the grounds that it was "disgusting" I believe. Granted, it's a bit rude but really quite tongue-in-cheek, like much of their material, and this really showcased the lack of any sense of humour at the BBC more than anything else. So what happened? "Relax" went... Read review

The Definitive foreigner
Review of Definitive, The - Foreigner by Martinscholes

Advantages: Fantastic selection
Disadvantages: None

...Have foreigner really being performing for over 25 years? Yes, they have. Foreigner has arguably provided some of the best music of the past 25 years. No matter what you were doing, there was probably a Foreigner song being played in the background. Or even the foreground. The tracks on the CD are: As Cold As Ice Waiting for a Girl Like You I Want to Know What Love Is That was Yesterday Urgent Say You Will Double Vision Blue Morning, Blue Day Heart Turns to Stone Feels Like the First Time Long, Long Way From Home I Don't Want to Live Without You Starrider Whire Lie Break It Up Hot Blooded Dirty White Boy Down on Love Juke Box Hero Urgent The latter track was recorded live at the BBC and is included as a special bonus track for the CD. The booklet that comes with the CD is very well written and also well researched, too. It reminds... Read review
