Advantages: Good collection of songs for those who were fans of the band Disadvantages: Missing a lot of their top singles.
...A collection of the greatest songs by Shedseven, the long time workhorses of the Indie-rock / Britpop scene.
This album does include a few of their classics such as the student anthems of Speakeasy, Bully boy and the more gentle and catchy Going for gold, as well as including one of my personal favourite songs in the brilliant parallel lines. The problem with this album however is they seem to have failed in their balancing of mixing their best songs in with some of their B-sides and rareities as there are too many of their best songs missing.
Very conspicuous in their absence are the great hits Dolphin, On standby and Chasing rainbows which means this album would be better suited to a true fan of the band rather than someone looking for a "best of" album and hoping to hear all of their best hits!

Advantages: Plently of great indie anthems Disadvantages: A few weaker tracks - Dolpin '99 and Mark
...A greatest hits collection from the much underrated 90's indie band fronted by Rick Witter. A very good album featuring all of the band's biggest hits.
If you're a fan of Britpop acts like Oasis, Cast, Elastica, Sleeper etc you should definately get this album.
I have never bought any ShedSeven records before this and was surprised at just how many tracks I recognised. There are several great sing-a-long anthems like "Getting Better" and "Going for Gold" as well as reflective ballads like "Ocean Pie".
I would recommend this album over the other compilation of ShedSeven's songs "the collection" as Going for Gold includes the big singles "Chasing Rainbows" and "On Standby" which do not feature on "the collection".
A truely classic Britpop album....

Advantages: The best songs on one album Disadvantages: Not many people remember them
...So what if I told you that in the early 90’s Oasis were playing second fiddle to an up and coming band from York. How about if I told you they were tipped to go on and rule the Indie world? I bet you wouldn’t believe me on either count would you? Well that was exactly how ShedSeven started out, being tipped to be more successful than Oasis.
Well I can testify that the Shed are still going with the original line up re-united and still belting out the classics. I saw them on Saturday night and they really were on top form. They had some huge singles that people didn’t even realise was them, they ruled the Shine albums along with Dodgy, I don’t think there was on released without them.
This album brings together ShedSevens best tracks all onto one CD and really is one of the best albums I own.
