Perhaps the main reason The Deer Hunter connects with me so much, emotionally, each time I watch it is because it's not really what I would call a "War Film".
Opening in the late 1960s, in a small working-class town of Pennsylvania, it tracks three Russian-American steel workers, Michael (Robert De Niro), Steven (John Savage), and Nick (Christopher Walken). The lives of these characters occupy the screen for a large majority of the movie: we see them drinking and singing along to the jukebox at their local bar, dancing at their friends' wedding, and going on hunting trips into the mountains.

I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend.
The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home.
The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep.
We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice.
Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from ...

Wasdale is one of my favourite places and the Wasdale HeadInn is my favourite hotel anywhere. Surrounded by steep mountains, nestled at the end of a long and winding road through the finest scenery in England, this hotel provides a warm welcome, good accomodation, excellent food and breathtaking walks. The staff are friendly and professional. Many of them are mountain rescue volunteers and they know the surrounding hills in impressive detail. The hotel owns a number of well appointed self catering apartments which are built into the surrounding buildings: you wouldn't know they were there. The tiny hamlet of Wasdale Head also has an excellent outdoor shop.
The beer is pretty damned good too ! ...
