Thrash metal suffered a bit of a blip at the end of the 90s and early millenium but Exodus is a band who came back early with 2 strong albums in Tempo of the Damned (2004) and Shovel Headed Killing Machine (2005), this third album cements a solid comeback this decade for the band headed by guitarist Gary Holt. It's the second album to feature the vocals of Rob Dukes.

"Funeral Hymn" is an immense number that just seems to get better and better as it goes on as well as the more times you listen to it! "Bedlam 1-2-3" starts off at a slow pace with a damning bass line and builds up to a raucous frenzy, the vocals are pretty wild and remind me a little bit of Macabre or Pantera on Vulgar Display of Power. The track is not 19 minutes long itself but features around 10 minutes of silence and then a hidden track which is a country version (tongue in cheek) of the band's first big hit Bonded by Blood.. labeled Bonded by Banjo
This is wild, enjoyable stuff (the album in general) not just the latter track and must have for fans of metal. Atrocity Exhibition A will be followed up by Atrocity Exhibition B this year, of which 4 tracks have already been recorded supposedly! I look forward to it!

Advantages: original , agressive , fast and powerful Disadvantages: the album has a 4 or so weak links that dont fit in well
I had only heard of this band through a friend being a huge German thrash metal fan, myself only being a big Kreator fan. However after listening to Sodom's self titled most recent release I was highly impressed
So far this is the only modern album from an old school thrash band I have been very impressed with , sure creator have enemy of god , Megadeth have United Abominations , and Exodus have the AtrocityExhibition , but this is the only one I have found so far that keeps the balance right between speed , aggressive vocals , and originality.
This album is a modern thrash masterpiece, unfortunately underrated.
Stand Out Tracks
Wanted Dead: When I first heard this song I liked the intro, but it wasn't that special, I figured it was just going to be an average song. However after listening to 40 seconds of this song its ...

Album Notes
San Francisco thrash veterans Exodus are old-school enough to count Metallica's Kirk Hammett as a founding member, but 27 years on, they're still banging heads with a ferocity many of their peers can't match. Loaded to bursting with the kind of rapid-fire, aggressive guitar that made the Bay Area ground zero for '80s metal, ATROCITY EXHIBITION cruises along with power and focus. Tracks like "Riot Act" take off on the high-octane blitz of second-generation acts like Anthrax that Exodus gave birth to, and moodier, mammoth numbers like the title track feature both speed and power in equal measures. Thrash purists who lament the death of the real thing will rejoice in this still-furious act's new vigor.
Album Reviews
Kerrang (Magazine) (p.48) - "Holt injects more of an old-school flavour into this fretburn without sacrificing any of the band's new found post-millennial menace. Absolutely killer."
